Four mystery cities. Four cryptic clues. One week to work out where we're going.

The Great Coffee Break Treasure Hunt is back for 2026, and everything happens here: https://coffeebreaklanguages.com/treasurehunt

Each clue is a short poem describing a European city without ever naming it. Every clue is written from scratch in French, Italian, German and Spanish by the team who teach it, so it rhymes and reads properly in each one. Watch in whichever language you're learning.

Translating word for word from English is one of the quickest ways to sound unnatural in Spanish, and set phrases are where it shows most. Do you know how to translate the word ‘get’ into Spanish? This small word can be translated in many different ways, making it a big challenge for learners of Spanish.

That’s why in this episode Pablo shows you how to think when translating ‘to get’, replacing it with clearer alternatives like conseguir (to achieve), recibir (to receive), or specific verbs for phrasal verbs such as levantarse (to get up) and bajar de (to get off).

In this espresso-style episode, Anabel talks about one of the trickiest parts of Spanish grammar: knowing when to use ser and when to use estar, specifically while talking about calendar dates.  

She explains how we normally use ser for dates (Hoy es viernes), but how switching to estar in the nosotros form (Estamos a viernes) can sound more natural and personal in Spanish. 📅
