(S2) Episode 6. Addiction Ft. Michael Mackenzie (Part 1)
#6
Last Friday at 6:00 PM

This one is not for the kids.

I’m sure everyone knows atleast one person who has struggled with some form of an addiction in their life. It isn’t an easy road to navigate, and it’s easy to assume there is no solution. This week we spoke about patterns of dependence, the psychiatric & disease models of addiction, Tolerance & withdrawal. Thankfully, Michael Mackenzie graced us with his presence this week, and don’t get us wrong, we aren’t med students. We did not solve the tragedy of addiction, and you should NOT take this episode as a substit...

09/23/2022

This episode :
- Oceana
- Kalani
- Solara

I just spent 9 weeks living in Kananaskis, no access to the outside world (OH NO!), with 60 beautiful people. I got to work on my craft at a summer camp in the woods and it changed my life. A lot of you might scoff at the thought, “Kids? I’d rather NOT”. A little harsh but I know you guys are out there, but for me? That’s the future of our planet family. And I personally could not sit with myself if I didn’t go out of my...

WMYH? - Ep. 15: Kyler Dyck
#15
07/15/2022

"Yo bro don't air that pod cast 😂 " - Kyler Dyck, 2022

I promise I got his permission after he said that to me, but the AUDACITY?? Anyways to finish the trilogy I sat down with someone I've known since 2008, Kyler Dyck. Kyler was born on a winter's night, the 29th of February which makes him 5 years old. Even so, this has not stopped him from being a leader in sport and in life since the day I met him. He is also one of the most loyal people I know, a very admirable quality if I do say so my...

WMYH? - Ep. 14: William Betzner

07/08/2022

"Hit me up, I'll be you father ... I guess" - William Betzner, 2022

So I really like "Caucasian" sports, for example: Fishing, Golfing, Horseback Riding, Kayaking etc. After meeting William Betzner in 2015, who at Aberhart was affectionately known as "Will.B.Fishing" or "The Fish Guy". I knew immediately that I needed to learn from Will this ability to fish (which is still in progress). Since graduating highschool together in 2018, there has yet to be summer when I haven't bothered Will to go fishing. William is a jester through-and-through, he has me crying laughing constantly, and he is...

(S2) Episode 5. The Unconscious Mind
#5
07/01/2022

Siri Play "Lonely" by Akon

This week I made myself a liar since I recorded this one solo. The Brain & Mind are very fascinating & complex subjects that are hotly studied across disciplines. Obviously my enjoyment of biology biases my opinion, but I think an understanding of these things is crucial when it comes to mediating our behaviour. So this week our conversation covered repression & other defense mechanisms, The conscious, unconscious, & subconscious minds as well as the Id, Ego, & Superego. We wrapped up talking about Sigmund Freud's Psychosexual theory.

"It's Okay" - Tegan Mackinnon, All the time

Okay, I'll confess. I went back to Camrose and sat down with  someone who has influenced my life greatly, Tegan Mackinnon. T-Mack and I met through a mutual friend in 2016 at Rocky Mountain Hoops (a basketball summer camp) and ran into each other a few times after that in high school at basketball tournaments. Tegan is a magnetic human being and her electric personality really draws people in, and thus we became really good friends in grade 11 & 12.

HERE ARE SOME OF TEGAN'S ACCOMPLISMENTS SO FAR:

She was...
