S7E40 - Luke 18:18-30 & 19:11-27 - The Rich Young Ruler & The Parable of the Talents
Send Us Your Questions/Comments
The scariest spiritual question isn’t “How much do I have?” It’s “What has me?” That’s where we go in Luke 18:18–30 with the rich young ruler, a man who looks impressive on the outside but walks away sorrowful when Jesus names the one thing he won’t release. We talk about why Jesus starts with God’s authority, why “I’m a good person” doesn’t solve the eternal life problem, and how a good gift like money can become a heart-level idol.
Then we slow down on the question the disciples b...
Pastor Podcast - 1 Corinthians 11 - Gathering, Communion, & Baptism
Send Us Your Questions/Comments
If church can be streamed, why fight traffic, wrangle kids, and walk through the doors? We get honest about how easy it is to drift into isolation and call it “community,” especially after COVID and with nonstop technology. From Hebrews 10:25 to the meaning of ecclesia, we make the case that gathering is not a guilt trip. It is a gift. When you’re not present, you miss what God wants to do in you, and the church also misses what God wants to do through you.
We also unpack the two or...
S7E39 - Luke 18:1-17 - Faith Lessons for Right Now
Send Us Your Questions/Comments
If your prayers have started to feel like one more task you fail at, Luke 18 offers a different picture: prayer as a necessity that keeps us from losing heart. We sit with Jesus’ parable of the persistent widow and ask what it means to keep showing up with faith when answers feel slow, pressure is real, and life refuses to cooperate. Along the way, we confront the ways our instant gratification culture trains us to treat God like a shortcut instead of a Father.
Then we take on one of the...
Pastor Podcast - Psalm 19 - The God Who Speaks
Send Us Your Questions/Comments
God isn’t silent, and Psalm 19 refuses to let us pretend He is. We sit down for our Monday sermon reflection and talk through the weekend message from guest speaker Jonathan Noyes, whose background in Christian apologetics helps put words to what many of us feel: faith is not opposed to reason, and you don’t have to “check your brain at the door” to trust God.
We walk through the three big movements of Psalm 19: God speaks through creation, God speaks through His Word, and God speaks through His Redeemer...
S7E38 - Luke 17:20-37 - What is God's Kingdom All About??
Send Us Your Questions/Comments
If Jesus returned today, what would He find you living for? That single question turns Luke 17:20–37 from “end times curiosity” into a gut-level audit of our priorities, our schedules, and the quiet motives driving our choices. We sit down as the steady Life Talk crew and walk through Jesus’ teaching on the kingdom of God and the coming of the King, with Rico guiding us through three anchors that keep the passage clear and personal: presence, promise, and preparation.
We start with the Pharisees asking when the kingdom will come and Jesu...
Pastor Podcast - 2 Corinthians 3 - The Ministry of the Holy Spirit
Send Us Your Questions/Comments
If you’ve ever wondered why spiritual progress can feel so hard even when you “believe,” 2 Corinthians 3 brings the issue into the light: the Christian life is not powered by grit, image, or religious box-checking. We kick off a new series by digging into why Paul talks about the Holy Spirit so directly and why our theme verse this year, Zechariah 4:6, is more than a slogan. When God calls us to obey, change, and endure, it won’t be by might or power. It will be by his Spirit.
We walk thr...
S7E37 - Luke 17:1-19 - Getting to the HEART of the Matter
Send Us Your Questions/Comments
Forgiveness sounds noble until you have to do it for real, and Luke 17 doesn’t let us stay vague. We sit down as the Life Talk Podcast crew and follow Jesus’ words step by step as He warns about temptation, calls out the danger of causing “little ones” to stumble, and then lands the punch: when a brother repents, we forgive, even when it keeps happening. That’s not soft or sentimental. It’s truth, rebuke, repentance, and restoration, all aimed straight at the heart.
Right after that command, the disciples as...
Pastor Podcast - Proverbs 30:1-9 - Wise Prayer
Send Us Your Questions/Comments
An empty seat at the table changes the whole meal, and that is how we think about Sunday gathering and prayer. We start with why presence matters in the church family, then pivot to one of the most practical passages on prayer in the Bible: Proverbs 30:7-9, the only recorded prayer in Proverbs. It is short, clear, and surprisingly searching, and it exposes what drives a lot of our prayer life underneath the words.
We walk through Agur’s approach to God, first with humility and then with a holy pe...
S7E36 - Luke 16:19:31 - The Rich Man & Lazarus - Two Destinations
Send Us Your Questions/Comments
Comfort can numb us so slowly that we do not notice what it is doing to our souls. We sit with Luke 16:19–31, Jesus’ story of the rich man and Lazarus, and ask the question it forces on every listener: what are you trusting to carry you beyond death?
We talk through why some believers see this as a parable while others see it as a real account, and why we should hold those details with humility. From there, we trace the main contrasts Jesus builds into the story: two lives, two...
Pastor Podcast - Proverbs 18 - The Power of the Tongue
Send Us Your Questions/Comments
One sentence can haunt someone for years, and one sentence can steady them when they feel like quitting. That’s why we keep coming back to Proverbs 18:20 to 21 and the hard truth that death and life are in the power of the tongue. On our Monday Reflection Time, we talk candidly about how TJ’s message presses us to look inward, because what we say and how we say it is not just a personality trait, it’s often a snapshot of the heart.
We trace the theme across Scripture, from Go...
S7E35 - Luke 16:1-15 - What Kind of Manager Are You?
Send Us Your Questions/Comments
Jesus tells a story about a dishonest manager and then… commends him. That tension is exactly why Luke 16 stops so many of us in our tracks, especially when we’re trying to build a healthy Christian life around money, work, and everyday decisions. We dig into what Jesus is actually praising (foresight, urgency, and purposeful action) and why the point is never “be shady,” but “be wise” with what God has entrusted to you. If you’ve ever struggled to connect biblical stewardship with real life finances, this conversation gives you practical clarity withou...
Pastor Podcast - Proverbs 16 - Roll Your Plans
Send Us Your Questions/Comments
Your calendar is full, your mind is racing, and you’ve got plans that feel urgent and nonnegotiable. Proverbs 16:1–9 challenges that posture without shaming it: we truly do plan, but the Lord establishes our steps. We sit down with Pastor Mark to go deeper on Sunday’s message and face one of the most practical questions in Christian living: how do God’s sovereignty and our responsibility fit together when real decisions are on the line?
We talk through what “commit your work to the Lord” actually means, not a vague spirit...
S7E34 - Luke 15 - Lost & Found - The Types of Prodigals
Send Us Your Questions/Comments
The word “prodigal” is everywhere in our culture, but Luke 15 is sharper and more personal than most of us remember. We sit with three escalating stories Jesus tells after the Pharisees grumble that he welcomes sinners: a lost sheep, a lost coin, and two lost sons. Each parable reveals a different kind of lostness and a different angle on God’s relentless compassion.
We talk through how the sheep represents someone who knows they’re in trouble but can’t get home, and how the shepherd’s pursuit is intentional, costly, and...
Pastor Podcast - Proverbs 9 - Two Invitations (Wisdom & Folly)
Send Us Your Questions/Comments
Two invitations are sitting in your inbox every day, and Proverbs 9 refuses to let us pretend they’re equal. One voice offers a table set for life, clarity, and steady joy. The other whispers that what’s hidden is harmless, that stolen water is sweet, and that quick pleasure is the same thing as freedom. We slow down the contrast between Lady Wisdom and Lady Folly and ask the question that actually matters: what are you training your heart to RSVP to when nobody’s watching?
We also dig into why bi...
S7E33 - Luke 14 - Humility Changes Everything
Send Us Your Questions/Comments
Pride rarely shows up announcing itself. It looks like “being right,” protecting our schedule, chasing the best seat, or keeping relationships transactional. As we continue our walk through the Gospel of Luke, chapter 14 brings all of that into the light and replaces it with something better: Christian humility that chooses compassion, releases the need for recognition, and serves without expecting payback.
We start with Jesus healing on the Sabbath while the Pharisees watch for a technicality, and we ask the uncomfortable question Luke 14 forces on us: have our rules ever becom...
Pastor Podcast - Proverbs 4 - Acquire Wisdom!
Send Us Your Questions/Comments
If you’ve ever thought, “I don’t even know what to do next,” you’re closer to wisdom than you think. We take Proverbs 4 seriously as a blueprint for Christian living, starting with Solomon’s backstory: a young, inexperienced leader who asked God for wisdom instead of pretending he already had it. That single decision ripples through the whole book of Proverbs and it can reshape how we make decisions today.
We also push back on a loud message in our culture: “Look inside yourself and you’ll find the path.” Prover...
S7E32 - Luke 13:18-35 - Proximity is Not Relationship
Send Us Your Questions/Comments
A tiny mustard seed turning into a sheltering tree. A pinch of leaven working through enough dough to feed a crowd. We love how Jesus uses ordinary, earthy pictures to describe the kingdom of God, because they confront our craving for spectacle and remind us that real spiritual growth often starts quietly. We talk through Luke 13:18-35 and trace how the gospel begins small, then spreads through a life until it reshapes priorities, character, and fruit.
Then the tone sharpens with a question that still hits hard: will the saved...

S7E31 - Luke 13:1-17 - Restoration Starts with Repentance
Send Us Your Questions/Comments
Some moments expose how we really think about God: a tragedy, a diagnosis, a sudden loss, a story we can’t explain. We bring that tension to Luke 13:1–17, where Jesus refuses the easy conclusion that suffering proves someone was “worse.” Instead, he turns the mirror toward every listener and presses a clear, urgent word: repent. Not fear driven panic, but a real turning back to God while there is still time.
From there, we follow Jesus into the parable of the fig tree and talk about spiritual fruit, sanctification, and the dang...
Pastor Podcast - Proverbs 2 - The Path To Wisdom
Send Us Your Questions/Comments
Wisdom doesn’t arrive by accident, and it rarely comes in a neat, distraction-free package. We sit down with Mitch Poe to keep digging into Proverbs 2 and the “path to wisdom” Solomon presses on his son. With Pastor Mark still on vacation, we take the chance to rewind Sunday’s message and talk through what it looks like to pursue God with diligence and depth, not just curiosity.
We explore why the fear of the Lord is the foundation, and why knowledge alone can’t carry the weight of real Christian d...
S7E30 - Luke 12:35-59 - Are You Ready???
Send Us Your Questions/Comments
A lot of us can read “be ready” and instantly picture a frantic spiritual sprint. Jesus paints something quieter and tougher: lamps lit, sleeves rolled up, a servant doing the work in front of them as if the Master could walk in at any moment. We open Luke 12:35 through the end of the chapter and talk about why readiness is a daily posture, not an emotional spike, and why a watchful life is actually a freer life.
From there, we get honest about stewardship and accountability. Jesus’ words about the faithf...
Pastor Podcast - Proverbs 1:1-7 - Where Wisdom Begins
Send Us Your Questions/Comments
If “fear of the Lord” makes you picture anxiety, punishment, or distance from God, Proverbs is about to reframe everything. We sit down with Oscar Ross to go deeper on Proverbs 1:1–7 and the foundation that makes biblical wisdom more than a collection of smart sayings. Proverbs is designed to shape instincts and choices, and we talk about how a proverb “clicks” by using comparisons that stay with you long after you close your Bible.
We also step back into the story of Solomon’s reputation and the Queen of Sheba traveling fa...
S7E29 - Luke 12:4-34 - Defeating Anxiety, Jesus' Way
Send Us Your Questions/Comments
Fear, money, and anxiety are not separate problems, they often feed each other. We sit in Luke 12 where Jesus speaks with both edge and comfort: stop fearing people as if they hold your life, and learn the kind of fear that actually makes you free. We talk through what “fear of the Lord” means in everyday terms, why people-pleasing can become a serious enemy of discipleship, and how God’s authority is never detached from God’s care.
From there, the conversation turns to finances and the story Jesus tells about th...
Pastor Podcast - Acts 8:1-25 - Persecution, Proclamation, Proof, & Pride
Send Us Your Questions/Comments
Pastor Mark is on vacation for July but the Sermon Reflections keep rolling! Jarvis & Nate sit down this week to reflect on Pastor Mark's sermon yesterday from Acts Chapter 8!
Grief hits the early church like a wave, and Acts 8 refuses to skip past it. Stephen is gone, the pressure rises, and believers are forced to scatter. We sit with that reality and talk honestly about what it’s like when you’re trying to walk faithfully and life still hurts.
From there, we trace a surprising theme: providential perse...
S7E28 - Luke 11:33 - 12:3 - The Hypocrisy Test
Send Us Your Questions/Comments
A missed handwashing ritual kicks off one of Jesus’ sharpest warnings about religious hypocrisy, and it lands uncomfortably close to home. We’re in Luke 11:33-54 and the opening of Luke 12, watching Jesus recline at a Pharisee’s table, read the room perfectly, and expose the gap between polished religious behavior and a heart still driven by greed, pride, and image management.
We unpack the “woes” Jesus speaks to the Pharisees and why they still matter for Christians today: tithing tiny details while neglecting justice and the love of God, craving the...

S7E27 - Luke 11:14-32 - The Devil Owns The Fence
Send Us Your Questions/Comments
A man can’t speak, Jesus sets him free, and instead of worship the crowd starts explaining it away. That’s where Luke 11 gets painfully relevant, because the pushback isn’t just intellectual, it’s personal. We talk through the accusation that Jesus casts out demons by Beelzebub, why a divided kingdom can’t stand, and what it reveals about spiritual blindness and hidden motives that still show up in our lives today.
We also slow down for a grounded conversation on spiritual warfare. Satan is real, but he is not God’s e...

S7E26 - Luke 11:1-13 - Prayer Guide for Real Life
Send Us Your Questions/Comments
Something in Jesus’ prayer life made the disciples stop and say, “Teach us to pray.” That’s the heartbeat of Luke 11:1-13, and it’s where we start. We’re not chasing fancy religious words or a guilt-driven checklist. We’re learning the posture Jesus models: real communion with a real Father, built on trust, worship, and dependence.
We unpack Luke’s intimate, abbreviated version of the Lord’s Prayer and why it still functions as one of the best “how to pray” guides for everyday discipleship. We talk about honoring God’s name be...

S7E25 - Luke 10:21-42 - Who Is My Neighbor?
Send Us Your Questions/Comments
Your calendar can be full of good things and still leave you spiritually empty. We open Luke 10:21–42 and watch Jesus redirect the spotlight from impressive results to the deeper reason for joy: salvation, humility, and God’s gracious revelation to the childlike heart. Along the way, we notice the Trinity at work as Jesus rejoices in the Holy Spirit and praises the Father, reminding us that faith is received before it is performed.
Then we slow down for the Good Samaritan, because this parable refuses to stay abstract. A lawyer tries...

S7E24 - Luke 10:1-20 - Loved & Sent!
Send Us Your Questions/Comments
Jesus sends seventy-two ordinary disciples into ordinary towns and tells them to do something that still challenges our modern instincts: pray first, then go in dependence. Luke 10 is not a hype speech for “big ministry,” it is a clear blueprint for Christian discipleship, evangelism, and gospel mission that happens in homes, conversations, and daily life. We walk through Jesus’ instructions and ask what it looks like to represent Him with humility when we feel underprepared, outnumbered, or afraid of rejection.
We talk about the harvest being plentiful and why Jesus tells...
S7E23 - Luke 9:46-62 - What is Greatness?
Send Us Your Questions/Comments
The disciples get into a debate that feels painfully modern: who is the greatest. We open Luke 9:46-62 and watch Jesus dismantle the whole scorekeeping mindset with one simple move, he brings a child to his side and ties true greatness to humility. As we talk it through, we keep coming back to motives: would we still serve if nobody noticed, and do we secretly want recognition more than obedience?
From there, the conversation shifts to ministry jealousy and church unity. John tries to shut down someone casting out demons...
Witness Wednesday - Nonso Okpala - From Nigeria To New Purpose
Send Us Your Questions/Comments
A polygamous upbringing in Nigeria, a father’s death at age seven, and a stretch of quiet atheism aren’t the usual milestones on the road to church leadership, but that’s exactly why Nonso Okpala’s story is so gripping. We sit down as friends and church family and let him walk us through the moments that shaped his faith, from early Catholic devotion and seminary dreams to the slow, steady way God drew him back through Scripture, conviction, and surrender.
Along the way, we talk honestly about hypocrisy, doubt, a...

S7E22 - Luke 9:28-43 - Mountain Top Experiences
Send Us Your Questions/Comments
A split second can change how you see everything, and Luke 9 gives us one of those moments. Jesus goes up a mountain to pray with Peter, James, and John, and while He’s praying, His face and clothing blaze with a kind of radiant glory the disciples cannot manufacture or explain. Then Moses and Elijah appear and start talking with Him, not about comfort or success, but about His coming “departure” at Jerusalem. Even in glory, the cross stays central.
We take time to read the passage closely and connect the do...

S7E21 - Luke 9:18-27 - Crucial Questions We All Must Answer
Send Us Your Questions/Comments
Jesus asks several questions that sound simple until you try to answer them without hiding behind the crowd: “Who do you say that I am?”, "What did I come to do?", and "How will you live in light of these things?” We open Luke 9:18-27 right after the feeding of the 5,000 and watch Luke tighten the focus from public opinions to personal confession. Plenty of people can name a version of Jesus they admire, but Jesus demands clarity about his identity as God’s Messiah, not a character we rewrite for comfort.
