What a weekend. So much has happened since we last talked to you guys. Sure, we played three baseball games and lost two of them. We talked a bit about good performances from Zach Thornton and Christian Scott, an annoying game on Sunday, and AJ Ewing’s continued emergence. Carlos Mendoza was fired. It made sense, maybe came too late, still sad for him as a guy but understanding this has felt obvious for months now. Another rough series. Especially Monday and Tuesday, which were each in the running for 'Worst Mets Games We've Seen Lately'. Regardless, there was plenty to talk about. Nolan McLean was lights on Wednesday and Bo Bichette looks like he's finally turned the corner. The Mets lost another series. They a golden opportunity to steal a game on Monday, but the lineup was nonexistent once again and we could only grab one out of three in Seattle. There were some big positives to pull, like Sean Manaea pitching really well, Jonah Tong finding some cutter consistency, and Bo Bichette's four-hit game. But also, obviously, plenty of negatives. Possibly none more glaring thank Mark Vientos' game and his comments after playing some terrible ball. That's it, we're calling it. This was as disheartening of a four days of baseball as anyone could have imagined and this season is even more off the rails than before. Awful, painful series in St. Louis. We were 1-for-29 with RISP. Yes, 1-for-29 and at times it felt even worse than that. We talk through the struggles and try to rationalize what's going on.
