Constellating Cosmos (an astrological lens)

Today I'm joined by mythologist, storyteller, and author Michael Meade to explore his new book, The Heart of Transformation. We speak about Psyche—the ancient word for both soul and butterfly—and what metamorphosis asks of us in a time when one world seems to be collapsing, and another has not yet revealed its form. This is a conversation about myth, calling, initiation, AI, ecological crisis, and the hidden genius that may only emerge when we enter the darkness of the cocoon.

In this yearly installment of Mark and I having our philosophical discussions, we talk about where astrology lands for us in our lives, especially at this point in our careers. We talk about the Pluto-Neptune cycle and many other fascinating subjects in between. I know many of you look forward to these conversations. I don't think you'll be disappointed in this one.

In this episode,  Ray Merriman returns to talk about his new book on Jupiter & Saturn.  It's his first non-financial astrology book in many decades, even though it touches on it throughout. Using real‑world market examples, we explore how to turn these planetary forces into practical trading and life‑planning tools.  It's always a pleasure to talk with Ray. I hope that you enjoy listening to us.

In this show, Todd Elliott joins me to talk about his book The Cunning Farmer. I was so pleased to arrive back in Dartmoor to this book waiting for me in my office. It's truly beautiful and dense with practical magic you can apply not just to the land but to your life as well. It's been a while since I've done a Plants & Planets show, so hopefully it was worth the wait.

Dan Waites returns to look at the minor grand trine forming this summer — what André Barbault once called the peak of greatness for the 21st century. We ask whether he was right, follow the long thread of the Pluto-Neptune cycle and the Yugas, and circle the questions everyone seems to be wrestling with around the dinner table right now.

In this pod, Gianni joins me to discuss current markets through the lens of Financial Astrology. He's been studying this branch of the astro-tree much longer than I, and it's always a treat to learn while having these conversations. He's an MMA analyst like Pouyan, who was recently on the show, so if you enjoyed that one, you'll really enjoy this one.

What happens when you spend your career studying ancient mysteries, stumble across a few artifacts offering clues to something like the Sumerian Zodiac, and apply AI to it? Well, I suppose you get this latest book from Graham Phillips. Whether you've read his previous books or seen him on Ancient Aliens, he was a great hang, and I learned loads from our conversation. I hope you enjoy your listen.

This conversation was a pleasant surprise. I reached out to Ray Merriman to return for a yearly conversation about Financial Astrology and the markets, and he pointed me instead to Pouyan. He works with Ray at MMA and was a treat to talk to. He shares his story of how he got involved in Financial Astrology, alongside many helpful anecdotes, and a little assessment of what's to come in Q4 with transits to be aware of. I think you'll enjoy his story.

Each year, I try to make my way up to Wales to spend some quality time with Mark. We also try to record a sliver of our endless conversations. This year, we stumbled into the existential questions around astrology: Why did we get involved? Why are we still involved? And really, what is valuable about it…? Some of these ideas, along with many others, can be found in this short podcast. I hope you enjoy. If you do, there are many others between the two of us.

All the best,

In this show, Dan returns—this time solo without SJ—to discuss the state of the world and some attractive underground theories. I always learn from Dan. He's quite the investigator. With mundane astrology on his side, there is a cornucopia of ideas to explore that give that extra layer—or context—to everything that is happening. I loved this conversation. I hope you do as well.

In this little solo pod, I reflect on 16 years (2 Venus cycles) of podcasting and doing astrology. It's been a journey. The show is part educational and a moment to check in with you all. A lot has changed in the 16 years of doing these, and I do feel there will be another 8, yet for now, I'm still pupating….

I'm excited to share with you the long-overdue conversation with Ray Merriman. He's been on my radar since the beginning, I just never felt the time was right to invite him on…until now. I'm glad I waited. I was able to keep up and we had an engaging chat about all things related to financial astrology. Even if you aren't interested in the topic, I'm sure there is something in this conversation for you to enjoy.

This show was meant to be about lunar standstills, yet that's not quite what happened.  It often happens with Brett and I.  Lots of Gemini between us.  What ended up being discussed were the three main zodiacs, some astronomy, and a hint of the lunar standstill.  We will treat this one as part 1; part 2 will cover what we originally set out to explore.  It's more lecture than anything, but I think you will learn loads from listening.

Ray Grasse returns to the pod to discuss his new book of essays So, What Am I Doing Here, Anyway? Ranging beyond the astrological into the philosophical, it's a thought provoking collection of the questions we've all asked before, like: How does synchronicity relate to astrology? How in the world do charts still work once a person has already died? Or, Why is it that we are pattern-seeking creatures?  I had a great time reading many of these essays and I'm excited to share this conversation with you.  Enjoy.

In this pod, I give some time to explain the latest changes to the show.  For many of you, nothing may seem to change; for others, it may be confusing or abrupt.  Inspired by the Jungian concept of constellating psyche, this new title borrows some of its spirit around fully engaging with "archetypes" and leans more into the planetary side of the equation.  There will be more focus on cycles moving forward.  There will also be many more shows that may seem unrelated to astrology but will be essential for our exploration of all these wyrd ideas.  Glad I've still...

This is the first show under the new banner/name Constellating Cosmos.  It's the third name and hopefully the last.  To set off on this new journey, I've decided to share this conversation I recently had with Jonathan Fredette.  He's a fellow mycophile out in Oregon and also has a mushroom company called Evolved Mushrooms.  I really enjoyed meeting him.  It reminded me that I've never met a mushroom person I didn't like.  They are all fun guys and gals.

In this show, I try to reconcile the differences between Stoicism and Astrology.  There was a time when they existed side-by-side, and it seems they are doing so again today.  Both have seen a generous climb in popularity in recent years and I feel they need eachother—well, one needs the other more than the other.  I make a case for this in the pod.  It's a solo one.  I hope you enjoy it.

In this episode, Jenn returns to share with us some intel from the outer edges of our solar system.  You see, in the early 20th century, there was a school of German astrologers who became fascinated in these "hypothetical" planets beyond Neptune.  This was before Pluto's discovery and gained much momentum in certain circles.  If you have ever seen the option to put Cupido or Hades in your chart, it's these Uranian planets we explore.  Fascinating material.  Jenn is always a treat to talk to.  I learn something new every time—without fail.  Enjoy!

This is the final podcast of 2023.  Instead of doing a recap of the year, I've decided to choose the top 3 themes of 24' I've been thinking about, and share what I think about them.  It's also a solo show.  I know, I attempted to do all of them as solo shows at the start of the year, but had to squeeze a few conversations in there.  I felt lonely.  Anyway, I hope you enjoy it.  See you next year!!!

In this show, I share one of my favorite theories of how astrology works and how such a simple technique can change your life forever.  It relates to dreaming.  The overlap between dreams and transits has intrigued me from the beginning; I have learned so much from the interplay between the two that I feel it's now time to share a few of my findings.  I hope it inspires you to do the same.

It's that time again.  The dragon is close.  Rahu and Ketu are about to devour the Sun and Moon.  Every year, at least 4 times it occurs, and this year is going to be another exciting one in regards to eclipses.  We will cover them in this show, mainly focusing on those of the Spring, but also talking about the Saros Series, which will serve as some timeless content as well. In this show, Olga joins us to share her W. D. Gann obsession with us.  I've been studying Gann for six months, and I can confirm, that her 'obsession' is warranted.  The legendary Wall st. trader used astrology, numerology, geometry, and many other esoteric methods to beat the market. We recorded this just as Mars was sitting on his Gemini Sun. Perfect timing!  I hope you enjoy this introduction to this enigmatic man.
