From the Point: A Blues Hockey Podcast

Our fifth year of FTP has started! We cannot thank all of you enough for the support for a podcast that is just two dudes who are diehard fans of the Blue Note on the sweater. This time, Chris and Joe discuss 3D printed creations and the state of the franchise now that the trade deadline has passed. Are we tanking or are we just becoming that team that's giving playoff contenders headaches? We also make some bold predictions on where the franchise is going after this season presumably ends in less than a month.

It took us long enough, but we finally went to a hockey game together! November 29th, 2025 will go down as a milestone in our friendship and also in FTP history! Completely unscripted, we ramble on about what we experienced at the game and other random side notes from video games, to the new Blues jersey to food. Also, the Blues won, so there's that. Chris and Joe are 1-0 in going to games together, so we are at a perfect record as its stands!

SURPRISE! We're back!! 2025 has been such a blur, that it doesn't seem like the Blues went from heroes to zeros all in the span of five-ish months. Chris blames it from a premature playoff celebration, Joe calls it just a team that's getting old. We lament the team's struggles on this episode, try to find solutions, wax poetic about 70s style hockey, and talk a lot about food. It has been a long time coming, but WE HAVE RETURNED! This podcast was on the brink of shutting down, but we missed each other and we missed providing you all our insights into our beloved St. Louis Blues. Chris and Joe catch up on life, the state of the Blues franchise currently (UPDATE: Bannister was elevated to Head Coach), the Stanley Cup Playoffs (UPDATE: It's Florida vs. Edmonton) and where we're going from here.

Before we return with all new content, it would only be fitting to drop the only other episode that was recorded in 2023. This was a continuation of our Rivalries series (which we will continue in a different format), highlighting and lowlighting the moments in Blues franchise history versus the Colorado Avalanche.

2023 was a kick in the teeth for us. We almost shut this thing down, but your unwavering support and a surprise amount of downloads gave us some inspiration to return, albeit reimagined, with new content. The Blues are in a very promising spot next season, so we think it would only be appropriate to be along for the ride and deliver you all new episodes.

FINALLY! The Blues would end this rebuild era in the 2011-12 season with a return to the playoffs, a new coach, a new captain and a steal of a goaltender who would help the team win the Jennings trophy in 2012. However, they had to endure the House of Payne the season prior along with some major shakeups. Chris joins Joe to conclude this Summer project and connect the dots of how this era did eventually lead to Lord Stanley.

However, with a few new voices, two pivotal trades and the selection of two cornerstone players gave this team hope in light of a frustrated and impatient fanbase. The St. Louis Blues have had continued success in just about the last decade. However, the story really starts in the mid-2000s. Coincidentally coinciding with one of the darkest periods in NHL history, the rebuild with the Blues started in the 2004-05 lockout season and would continue all the way until the start of 2011-2012.
