Golf
Golf! A podcast about what else? Golf. The good, the bad, the beautiful and the inevitably ugly. Most of all, it's a celebration of the game by the people who love it. Andrew Daddo is joined by true enthusiasts looking to share the love. It's fun, and it's for anyone who's thought about welding a club. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Road Trip, anyone?
Bairnsdale Golf Club, which is closer to Paynesville, is down the coast from Lakes Entrance and may well be the start or the end of your golfing road trip between Sydney and Melbourne. It's a classic country course in exceptional condition. Jeff Graham's at the helm in Bairnsdale, avid golfer and fisher, he's right where he wants to be, and where we should definitely visit.

The Kindred Spirit
Darren Adam's a brick laying renovation expert who makes old things look great again. He strikes me as being entirely normal, especially when he talks about golf because he loves it. LOVES IT! One of my favourite chats about golf - and it's all about golf. A game he says is, amongst other things, solving problems.

James Erskine
James Erskine - the 'Pioneer of Sports Management in Australia' has had a hell of a life. Arnold Palmer, Greg Norman, Shane Warne, Michael Parkinson, Tiger Woods - he's been involved with the very very best sport has to offer. And entertainment, think Michale Parkinson. What about V8 Supercars? Golf Tournaments? Tennis? He's been in and around some of the best bits of our lives since the 70's, and he's good enough to share the stories, the lessons and the life.

Free Golf Subs at your club? What do you think?
James Dean is an A Grade golfer with a vision - not just for good golf, but free golf. For someone at the very least. Build it, and they will come, he says. Is it that simple? It's a great idea, could it work at your club?

Christian Small: Stop the Block
Christian Small is a 20 year PGA Pro who's been involved in golf at just about every level. He sees the game quite simply but understands how complicated it really is. Or is it? Are we overthinking, over-feeling, over-analysing and not really understanding how to get the ball where we want it to go? It's a fun chat, we cover a lot of ground. He's a big, deep thinker with some very good thoughts.

Hickory Dickory Most Definitely DO!
Hickory golf? Kooky? Of course. Fun? Most definitely! Good for your 'real' golf game? Obviously - though I'm not sure why, but it is.
Consider this an invitation to become a national champion!
Phil Baird is mad for it, he plays the wooden shafts Friday afternoons at Manly Golf Club and he's really very good. Funnily enough, since playing a bit with him, my handicap's come in. Coincidence? Maybe... but maybe not.

Mike Clayton
Mike Clayton's got his name in the credits of a stack of great golf courses, not just in Australia but around the world. Barnbougle Dunes, Victoria, Kingston Heath, Metropolitan and now, the new darling of Australian golf, 7 Mile. He's refreshingly honest about anything to do with golf. Here, we go from his beginnings in golf to playing to Greg Norman and architecture and end up with LIV. What an hour.

Women's Golf in Australia is Flying
Karen Lunn had a terrific life as a pro golfer, winning 16 times around the world in a career spanning over 30 years. Surprisingly, her legacy may not be her playing, but her role as a golfing administrator. She's at the forefront of bringing women's golf to the masses, and it's working. Beautifully. We caught up on ABC Radio.

17 years, 61 swings, 11 coaches. ONE EPIPHANY
Is it me? Is it the clubs? Is it my brain or my back or what? What is it that surprises us ever so rarely with sheer beauty in our golf game, only to depart? And how do we find it again? Change things, obviously. Paul's an amateur golfer and a great guy on the hunt. This may well be a podcast about most of us.

Rod Tucker: Australian Cricket Umpire on golf and life and cricket
Rod Tucker is a beautiful golfer. Straight, precise, on target almost all of the time - probably a lot like his umpiring around the world in the great game of cricket. From Dennis Lillee to Daryl Steyn to Warnie and beyond, he's seen a lot and is generous enough to share some of it. A great chat.

Royal Canberra
Royal Canberra Golf Club - of the famous Royal Golf Clubs has had a bit of work done - the Championship Nine has had more of a resurfacing than a face lift from the team at OCM and as it emerges from winter into spring, it's not just looking the goods, it's playing beautifully. Russell Ingram is the kind of captain any club would love, deeply passionate about the club, the course and the members.

Sri Lanka's Shangri-La
Sri Lanka's probably better known for surfing than golf - definitely sapphires - but maybe there's a new jewel in the crown. On the southwest coast you'll find Shangri-la Hambantota: A relatively new hotel with a championship golf course that'll test any holiday player. Through an old sapphire mine, a coconut plantation and along the ocean, it's got beauty and challenge in equal measure. Luke Sahabandu runs the golf and is a great ambassador for Sri Lanka.

From Sydney's Northern Beaches to US College and then???
Chunta Wu is a Freshman at Minnesota University - One of two Gophers to compete in all 11 tournaments and twice led the team during an event this season, he has the second best scoring average and he's pretty much self taught, with a lot of love and help from his dad Martin. He's a young man on the move, and after completing his Freshman year as one of the Gopher's best golfers, he's back home for the winter - and golfing every day.

Golf AI: The Future is here.
AI is everywhere. For some, it's great news, for others and intellectual struggle. How about AI and your golf game? And not just an app with yardage, but an actual caddie chatting with you about the course you're playing and the conditions you're playing in, in real time. It's a thing. Clive Mayhews' Golf.AI is at the cutting edge of golf tech, and by his own admission, he's an evangelist with some very exciting product to share.

Struck by Lightning Ridge
Put Lightning Ridge Golf Course on your to play list - at the very least, it'll bring you to Lightning Ridge. There's a fantastic sense of humour in this opal town of Northern NSW, it's a field of dreams for many where some even strike it rich. 'Cutty' is a local whose injuries currently hold him off the course, but he knows it, and a fair slice of life in Lightning Ridge. Dave and Phil are mid-game, and Barko's got a memory or two as well.

Major Major Tipping
David Mc Kerihan is a good, old fashioned sports fan. If there's a ball being belted, he'll watch it. For over 20 years he's worked on a bunch of tipping comps, for us golfers, the best is Major Major. A tipping comp around the Majors and there's definitely something here for anyone wanting to start their own comp. It's about golf, but it's more than that. It's friendship, staying in touch and winning $$$$$ if you're lucky enough.

Royal Hobart - one of the richest histories in Australian Golf
Royal Hobart has a massive history. New GM Nathan Sharrock is new to the club, whilst PGA professional Tim Cameron has been around a little longer. They both have terrific golfing stories - as does their golfing home. AND, there's a Masters tie in here that goes beyond the only ever Australian Open Champ who's won and done the job in Tasmania at RH - the great Jack Nicklaus

Build it and they will come - 7mile Hobart, Tasmania
Exciting news, golfers. 7 Mile Golf Club is almost ready. It's the vision of Tassie golf pro Matt Goggin, and he's taken Anthony Toogood along for the ride from the very beginning. Part of the legendary Tasmanian golfing Toogoods, Anthony has his own story to tell, which now includes 7 Mile, probably 5 Mile, and a few other golfing miles as well.

Proud as Punch about Lakes Entrance
Lakes Entrance Golf Club is a rare delight... A tough test of anyone's golf game on something of a sleeper - but it's only a sleeper because not enough people know about it. The greens are great, the wind howls, the water's in play and the test is true. As you'll hopefully experience, you can pretty much have it to yourself. The Captain and the President love the place, and reckon you will, too.

Bright by name, Beaut by nature
Bright Golf Club is a beauty. Set in a picturesque valley and running along the Ovens River, it's beautiful. Cam Wicks has had a lot do with that, he's been the course super for a long time, and it's easy to see why he loves the place. John Ruddock's a newcomer, but he moved to Bright for the golf course - has there been a better endorsement? Together, they tell a bit of the Bright story, and some of their own, as well.

The Golf Course is the ENEMY
Antonio Gelonisi was part of the gang that started Piranha Golf - an Australian golf club manufacturer with a niche dream to provide golfers with weaponry to take on their golf courses. It's a chance to sneak inside the mind of someone who's done what a few of us might think we'd like to try...

Everything grows from a seed - and now golf balls do, too.
Seed Golf Balls. Heard of them? You will. The company started in 2017 with the pretty simple idea of providing golf balls directly to the consumer, and ensuring they're comparable with the best golf balls you can buy- at a better price. A big vision from founder Dean Klatt that started in Ireland and is making its way around the world. With a long history in golf and golf equipment, Dean talks about what it takes to start a DTC company and a whole lot more.

Tony Fehon was the CEO of Medallist, living the residential golfing life building courses and community with Greg Norman. It's a hell of a story, and he had a hell of a time turning what was often not much into something quite spectacular, and he did it around the world. Some fabulous insights and even a few name drops, including Mr Packer.

The Prime Ministers Cup
The Prime Ministers Cup is probably like a lot of golf trips - an excuse for old friends to re-find each other at least once a year. Since 1998, The Country have taken on The City up and down the east coast. 'It's fun,' I was told. 'Come play for The City.' It was fun, but for much more than the golf... Got a golf trip in mind, this might get you over the line....

Tambourine Mountain: The 9 holer that can!!!
Tambourine Mountain Golf Club is 30 minutes from the Golden Coast but feels another world away. Up on the Scenic Rim, it's a 9 hole course that rises and falls with the land and is pretty special - in fact, for a while, theirs was the best 2nd hole in the country. Gerry Maloney's the President, a storyteller with a terrific story to tell... one of golf and enlightenment but maybe not the two together.
