The Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) was first held in 1956 in Switzerland. 70 contests have been held since then with 1,789 songs representing 52 countries. According to the Guinness World Records the ESC is the longest-running annual international televised music competition in the world. Australia has been represented 11 times since first taking part in 2015.

The playlist this week FRENCH WORDS includes songs that have incorporated some sound of French. In this program we feature songs that rarely get played simply because they are too long. Karen and Richard Carpenter departed from their usual style to produce/perform their magnum opus Calling Occupants Of Interplanetary Craft. Michael Jackson’s Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough and the Eagle’s Hotel California are two longer classics. Th highlight of the program is the entire eleven minutes and three parts from that great Aussie front man’s Stevie Wright and his epic Evie Parts 1, 2 and 3. The program concludes with one of The Beatle’s greatest Hey Jude.

Conditions of the Heart

Past civilizations have associated the heart with love as they believed it was (among other things) the centre of emotions.
