Bible Studies for Life | Kids Leader Training Podcast

All people are sinners and all people have need for salvation. Jesus commanded His followers to go and tell the gospel (good news) to everyone. This session will help kids understand that when the Holy Spirit came at Pentecost, Peter and the disciples received power to tell about Jesus. Christians today are tasked with sharing the gospel around the world. While we may not be able to go to every nation, we can support those who do go and tell about Jesus around the world.

Kids and Kindergarten: Jesus returned to heaven after spending some days with His disciples. Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit to His followers. This session will help kids know that Jesus is in heaven today with God. Jesus helps believers today from His place in heaven. The promise is that one day Jesus will return again to earth to rule as Savior and King.

Babies-PreK: Through the story of the two men on the road to Emmaus, this session will help kids understand that people saw Jesus after He arose. Jesus was dead but now is...

During Jesus’ trial, Peter denied he was a disciple. Peter even denied that he knew Jesus at all. After the resurrection, Jesus spoke with Peter and restored him. Jesus commissioned Peter to “Feed My sheep,” to tell others about Him. Jesus will help His followers return to the work God has called them to do.

Through the story of Thomas, this session will help kids understand that people saw Jesus after His resurrection. Jesus was dead but now is alive.  

Kids: The crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus is the center of the gospel. We deserve to die because of our sin, but Jesus died in our place. He was the blood sacrifice made once and for all for the forgiveness of sin. Jesus raised from the dead to reign as King over all creation. We are forgiven only through Jesus. 

Babies: This session will focus on Jesus helping people. 

1s–K: Jesus died on the cross and was placed in the tomb. This session will help kids think about Easter, the time we celebrate that Jesu...

This session is Palm Sunday. Jesus, God’s Son, came to be the Messiah and the Savior. When He entered Jerusalem, people praised Him. This session will lead kids to know and practice praising Jesus as Messiah and Savior.  

Jesus saw the widow’s “small” gift among the other gifts dropped into the offering boxes. He noted that her gift was all she had. This session will emphasize that Jesus taught giving should represent worship and honor to God, reflecting the giver’s heart.

Kids: Jesus taught not to worry about those needs that God promises to supply. Just like God takes care of the birds and flowers, He will take care of His people. This session will lead kids to know that God loves and cares for them. We can teach kids what "seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness" means by explaining that we are to turn to God first for help and to obey Him in everything.

Jesus taught that we should love God and love one another. These two commandments summarize all God's laws. It is much easier to love those who love in return, but Jesus taught to also love our enemies. This session will lead kids to understand that Jesus wants us to love everyone and to treat them with kindness. When kids are faced with an uncertain situation, we can ask them which course of action demonstrates love for God and love for others. 

The temple courts were known throughout Judea as a place of learning. At the time of Passover, the greatest rabbis would assemble to teach and discuss great truths among themselves. Jesus would have been eager to listen to the teachers and to ask probing questions. This session will lead kids to understand that Jesus grew physically and mentally, he related to other people, and he was loved by God. Kids can learn that it is important for them to learn about God just as Jesus did. 

Esther faced possible anger from the king. She faced possible death at the hands of Haman. She asked to have all the Jews fast and she would fast as well. Esther followed through even though it was challenging. This session will lead kids to understand that they can trust God even when challenging times come.

During a time of drought and famine, a woman planned to make a last meal for her family and then die. Elijah asked her to make him bread first. She trusted God would provide for her family and fed the prophet. This session will stress that God did what He said and continued to provide flour and oil for the woman. God can be trusted. 

Hannah prayed for a son. Eli told her that God heard and would answer. This session will emphasize to kids that God always hears our prayers. We can stress that even though He always hears, God does not always answer in the ways we would like Him to do. God’s ways are always right and His answers (yes, no, or wait) are always right, too.

Ruth showed love by staying with Naomi and by gathering grain for their food. This session will help kids understand that choosing to help others is a way to show love for God.

The story of Jesus walking on the water is such a powerful story for kids to see how truly miraculous Jesus is. Many kids will know this story, but it is always so fascinating to hear about Jesus walking on water. This session will lead kids to know that Jesus (fully human) was also fully God, able to do amazing things because He is divine. We can help kids put themselves in disciples' place, seeing the amazing things and realizing the divinity of Jesus.

Jesus fed a crowd of people. He taught through miracles that He is the Messiah sent by God. This session will help kids to learn that Jesus has the power to meet the needs of people.

Jesus stopped a storm. This session will help kids grow in their understanding of the powerful things that Jesus did and that He did these things because He is God’s Son. 

Jesus has the power over sickness and can heal people. He still heals people today. This session is recognizing Jesus' power over sickness. 

Kids: Foreign astrologers recognized a significant birth with the appearance of a star. This session will help kids understand that these men honored Jesus through their gifts and their worship. People worship Jesus as Messiah and Savior today.

Preschool: This session will focus on Joseph taking Mary and Jesus to Egypt and then the return to Nazareth. God protected Jesus so He could grow and fulfill God's plan. This session will focus on the fact that God's plan cannot be stopped. 

This session will lead kids to focus on the facts of the Christmas story, learning that Jesus’ birth is part of God’s plan to send a Savior. 

This session will focus on the praise that Elizabeth gave when Mary greeted her and on the praise that Mary gave to God. The birth of Jesus, God’s Son and the Savior, causes people to praise and worship God today.

God promised that the Savior would be born. The angels came to bring the good news to Mary and Joseph. The angel said that Mary would give birth to a Son, and His name would be Jesus. This session will emphasize that God planned for Jesus to be born. 

Kids: God had a plan to save sinners from the punishment for sin. Through the prophet Isaiah, God communicated His plan—to send a servant, a Savior, who would take the punishment for sin. We can lead kids to understand that God loves people and promised to send a Savior! We can have forgiveness of sin and eternal life through Jesus. 

Preschool: Deborah listened to God and told Barak what to do. When Barak was unsure, Deborah trusted and obeyed God and led the people. This session will focus on ways that Deborah listened to what God sai...

God promised to be with David and to go with him. God kept His promise to help David. David trusted that God would keep His promises and help him. This session will lead kids to know God will help them and He can be trusted during difficult times.

God is everywhere at all times, and He promises to be with His people. This session will emphasize that kids can always talk to God and trust that He will hear them. They are never alone! God is always with them and can help them. We can lead older kids to understand that Jesus promised the Holy Spirit to believers. The Holy Spirit lives within those who trust Jesus as Savior and Lord. He is always with Christians and leads them to live in ways that God wants.

God promised to make Abraham a great nation. But both Abraham and Sarah were very old and had no children. God promised they would have a baby in spite of advanced age. This session will guide kids to understand God’s promise. God is faithful and dependable. There is no promise that God cannot keep.

This session will help kids know that God is in control of all things, and He will help bring about His will in people’s lives and in the world. We can lead kids to understand that God leads people to do His work, and He will help them accomplish whatever work He gives. God is fair, faithful, and just. He always keeps His promises.

In the Nazareth synagogue, Jesus read from the prophet Isaiah. He told the people that the prophet’s words were fulfilled in Him. This session will emphasize that Jesus taught that He is the Messiah that was promised in the Old Testament.

This session will emphasize that the Bible tells about God’s plan to send Jesus to be the Savior. We can help kids understand that the prophets told about Jesus’ birth hundreds of years before Jesus came. God planned to send the Messiah, His Son, and told that the special child would be born. The prophets wrote this message, and people waited for the Messiah.

This session will emphasize that God’s words are always true and right. We can have hope because the truths in the Bible will never change. God always does what He says He will do! The Bible can be trusted. Hope is knowing that God keeps His promises! Hope in God is waiting for something that is certain.

Babies-2s: This session will teach the little ones about prayer. They will learn that the Bible teaches about praying to God. 

All the books in the Bible were written under the inspiration of God and the guidance of His Spirit. The story in Jeremiah shows a direct instance of God telling someone to write down His words. This session will lead kids to understand that all of the Bible was inspired by God and that the Bible is the only written Word of God.

God is holy and demands our worship, reverence, and obedience. This session will lead kids to know that the there is no one like God. The Bible is God’s message to people. The words of the Bible are God’s words that tell about Himself and show us how to live.

When the people needed food or water in the wilderness, God provided. He acted in powerful ways to give the people what they needed. This session will stress that God loves and cares for people today and also helps people have what they need to live.

Moses saw a miraculous thing—the burning bush that was not consumed. God spoke to Moses, telling him that God knew what was happening to His people and was sending Moses to free them from Egypt. The Israelites’ exodus from Egypt and the crossing of the Red Sea show God’s power in many different ways. This session will emphasize that God worked in mighty ways to save His people. We can help kids know that God continues to work in mighty ways today, ways we may not even recognize.

This session will focus on the fact that God is all-knowing and in control of all things. God had a plan for Moses that could not be stopped. God is in control, and His plans will prevail. 

Kids: Jesus taught that He would die and be resurrected. Then He would return to heaven, but one day He will return. At that time He will rule over the new creation. This session will focus on Jesus’ promise to return and that no one knows when that will be except God. 

Preschool: Jesus loves every person. Jesus loved people that others didn't. This session will lead kids to understand that Jesus taught that people should love and act in kind ways to all people, even those who others may not like or who may be different. Thi...

Kids: Jesus used parables to teach. These three parables feature things that are lost but then found. Jesus taught about God’s love and joy when a sinner comes to Him. This session will help kids know that God’s love was a key topic in Jesus’ teaching.  

Preschool: As Jesus taught the people, He used stories and parables. This session will help kids understand that Jesus used these stories to help people know more about God and to know more about how God wants them to live.  

Jesus washed the disciples’ feet, the act usually reserved for the lowest servant. Jesus told His disciples that He was giving an example of serving others. This session will help kids know that Jesus calls His followers to serve others. Through acts of service, people can follow Jesus’ example.

Jesus taught His disciples how to pray. While He gave a Model Prayer, He emphasized that the heart and focus were more important than the words. The attitude and motivation of the one praying is important. Prayer should be more on focusing on God and not on needs of the person. This session includes opportunities for kids to pray during the session.

Kids: Jesus’ disciples tried to understand what He was teaching. Jesus taught that God wants people to go beyond the letter of the law and live in ways that show a change of heart. This session will help kids understand that Jesus taught that forgiveness should be given freely and often, just as God continues to forgive us.

Preschool: In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus taught that God’s people should trust and not worry. Help kids learn that God knows what people need and He will help meet their needs.
