The Movie Defenders

Today we start the show with a celebration and discussion of the legacy of Sir Patrick Stewart, who we lost this week. We play some greatest hits and peel back what he and his characters mean to us. Then we we go back to one of the greatest Cold War movies of the 1980s... WarGames! Not only that but we have a fun top 5 of 1980s movie tropes we thought would be more important as we grew up! So grab your WOPRs, watch that modem, and turn your key, Sir... it's time for WarGames on The Movie Defenders podcast!<...

It's time to discuss the most discussed film of 2026... Obsession. A movie that burst onto the scene and has raised two incredible actors to Oscar status, is also perhaps the finest screenplay of the year. There are many misconceptions about this film that we clear up. Is Bear the villain? What is the wish doing exactly? Why are our characters acting how they are? We dive into it all. We also have a 5x5 segment discussion our top 5 relationships in horror films of all time. There are chapter headings to jump around if you wish. So grab your One...

Do we have a fantastic show for you today! It's time to celebrate the film that is our hosts' favorite film of the year! Maybe it's not the best, but we haven't had more fun at the theater this year! Travis Knight knew what he was doing when he made this film. It knew when to be serious, it knew when to be silly, and it he understood the assignment. Before we break down the movie we also choose our top 5 toy/cartoons that need a live action Hollywood film. So grab your swords of power, look out for the crazy HR lady, and saddle up your Battle...

It's time to bring this underrated trilogy home with an examination of Battle of the Five Armies. A film that, in fairness, has a couple hiccups we'll discuss, it doesn't deserve the nonsense narrative that it sucks. Come along with us and we'll show you why. Before that we break down our Top 5 'In Media Res' opening moments in film history. So get out your wizard staff, go find the Arkenstone, and don't ever underestimate a Dwarf... it's time for Battle of the Five Armies on The Movie Defenders podcast!

Shields up! This movie does NOT deserve the narrative it has as a horrible Terminator film. We have a consensus that this movie is the third best of the films after the first two. We also break down our top 5 killer robots of all time! So grab your red patches, watch out for landmines, and turn up the power on the...

Tommy Boy quite simply is one of the iconic comedies of a generation, and a staple of a tragically short, but powerful career in Chris Farley. He and Spade together are like chocolate and peanut butter. But beyond the slapstick, physical humor of Farley, there is some really terrific writing in here, and Farley himself even delivers a dramatic and nuanced performance when it's called for. You won't watch Tommy Boy the same way again once you hear our break down. We also give our top 5 Chris Farley moments of all time. So don't let in the moths, watch...

We will unpack the 'why' behind this underrated fantasy film that doesn't deserve near the crap it gets. We also have fun in our 5x5 segment with the Top 5 Wizards/Magicians in films of all time.
