The Shotgun Mike Hostettler Show

Vengeance has no place here.  Not on this episode.  This episode is about social acceptance and conformity.  Who doesn't want to be part of the gang?

But social acceptability isn't a skill that just comes naturally!  You have to spend hours listening to the Shotgun Mike Hostettler Show before you start to realize that you don't really care if you're accepted socially.  That's when you'll know you finally understand it.

Venus in retrograde means that Venus appears to move backward across the sky when viewed from Earth. This happens because of Earth’s and Venus’s changing positions as they orbit the Sun, while Venus continues along its normal path.  In astrology, Venus represents love, attraction, beauty, pleasure, money, and personal values. Its retrograde period, lasting roughly six weeks, is interpreted as a time to reconsider those parts of life. Astrologers associate it with relationship tensions, old feelings resurfacing, and former partners reappearing. They also connect it with rethinking spending habits, personal tastes, and what makes people feel valued. For t...

On this episode we delve deep into the psychosis to unravel the truth and break down the barriers.  We explore the ever growing tensions in the Middle East, shifting trends in the global climate and work hard to dissect meaning from this otherwise absurd existence we are all being forced to endure.

No!!  I'm just kidding.  On this episode, we listen to an audio recording of this really squeaky door in the apartment building I live in.  It's amazing.

What more can one say that hasn't been said in the title?  And now I've made reference to the title in the description so even if I do come up with a better one, I won't be able to use it.  I guess I could just change it and see who even reads the descriptions.  I have 9,600 characters left but I'll probably just let them go.  On this episode I talk to our old friend Murphy about the future of the show.  He's always played a pivotal role in the Shotgun Mike Hostettler Show and he's here today to put h...

On this episode, I talk to Serj.  I had to reupload it because I think there's some audio mastering plug in that the host of this podcast is applying and it's really screwing things up so I'm going to reupload it.  The episode before this does it too but I thought that I had missed something, but no!!   Something is happening and I'll figure this out.

On this episode I talk to Serj who was in a cult that wanted to murder everyone and take over the world.  I know what you're thinking.  Who hasn...

On this episode I talk to Serj who was in a cult that wanted to murder everyone and take over the world.  Who hasn't been in a cult that wanted to murder everyone and take over the world?!  But wait!!  This one's a little different.  And what makes this murderous cult different than all those others?  Love.  Pure and simple.

Hey guess what?!  I did another episode.  It's barely an episode but I don't care.  I'm not here to provide you with episodes like a loyal servant.  You'll get whatever I'm willing to give you, like a lousy servant!! And you'll get nothing but lousy service here.

On this episode we talk to none other than author/philosopher/psychologist Steven Kubacki about what happened back in 1978 when he up and disappeared without a trace.  Sure, he returned fifteen months later but he didn't really talk about what happened to him.

Well he's talking about it now in his new book The Disappearance: Conspiracy, Revolution, Revelation… The Extraordinary Disappearance of Steven Kubacki (After 45 Years of Silence).  It's a story of revolution, philosophy, a little romance I'm told.  I mean...what more could you ask for?!  I just got my copy right here at Am...

This episode is a long time in the making.  It's a story about a small boy who finds his heart.  Or at least it looks like his heart.  I'm so tired as I write this.  Why have I chosen such a thankless life?!  And then my thoughts just trail off and I finish the description.  Don't forget to check out the new Trump record here:

This is part three of my extremely long conversation with my good friend Tim Turner of the Post Human Podcast.  We were tripping hard on LSD so it gets a little weird but I think we kept it together.  The trick is to not talk too much.  That can be tough for a lot of people, but not for me!  I haven't spoken in years.  No real reason.  I've just got nothing to say.

Here is the link to the FIRST "Trump Record" I made:  https://open.spotify.com/album/4WU4iQbX9tT4far0JFzq2O?si=7xmRRKuEQ...

This episode continues with even more stimulating conversation with my good friend Tim Turner of the Posthuman Podcast.  Tim is one of those controversial guests, like Joaquin Phoenix.  I actually mention that in this episode!  I shouldn't be spoiling it for you.  You go listen to the episode and we'll talk about it later.  Maybe next week.

This episode is a result of the hard work and dedication.  The hard work and dedication that I gave to another episode.  A scandalous episode full of debauchery and sin.  It was way more fun than this one, but guess what?  Modern society with all its ills and observations stepped in and kicked the heart out of the episode and left us this.  Thanks for NOTHING world!!

On this episode, there's really nothing too exciting.  I threw that title in, that "Sing and Dance" thing to throw you off.  It's pretty much a boring episode, but I tried to make it a little different.  Lots of talking.  And then there's some musical interludes.  Trippy excursions for you to get freaky with.  Sometimes I feel like those can get a bit laborious for the listeners, but they do pad out the run time!  I totally forgot to mention that Diddy sort of evaded any of his serious charges, but that's his style.  We expected that.  I had this joke...

On this episode we celebrate the release of the soundtrack to this episode. It's all about cyclically promoting the result of endless cycles of promtotion.  And what do we get for all this work?  Nothing.  You never get anything. You'll tell yourself you do.  You'll prove to yourself that you do.  You'll come down and fight me with your last breath because you know that you do get a little something, but you don't.  You don't get shit.  That was never the point though.  The point was to not be stupid enough to believe it.  It’s right here:  https://open...

On this episode I talk and play music that incorporates weird sounds.  That's probably not what you expected, but that's what we specialize in here - the unexpected!  Like I never thought society would crumble so quickly but here we are.  And I'm not going to sugar coat it for you!  There will be zero coats made of sugar in this episode.  None!

Other than that there's nothing much to talk about.  Listen to the episode.  If you hate it, send me an email going into great detail on this matter.  Okay.  Thanks!  Enjoy the show!!

This episode marks the world premiere of my Shatner-style theme song which was Shatner-voiced by none other than Mike Paine, international voice actor extraordinaire.  Nothing but the best here.  This is the kind of thing that's going to give this podcast the shot in the arm it so richly deserves.  I didn't have a guest on this episode so I read from various websites in a drunken stupor.

Well everyone, I was going to make a big to do about the fact that I've been so absent from the public eye for exactly two weeks.  This, no doubt, has lead to a lot of speculation on my part as to what it was I'd been doing.  And why for so long?  How come nobody came looking for me?  Or called?  We will answer all those questions and more on this episode of the show.  I also shamelessly promote my latest release.  I'm doing that now.  Just shamelessly promoting my works.  I've spent my life doing it shamefully, and my li...

On this episode, we speak with young filmmaker Ronnoc.  He's only 17 years old!  He's the youngest filmmaker we've ever had on the show!!  Our lawyers warned us that this may be seen as contributing to the delinquency of a minor, but we didn't care.  We want to contribute to the delinquency of ALL AGES!!!

But in all seriousness, Ronnoc is just the type of enthusiastic go-getter the film world needs.  Listen to us talk about his craft, his life and his films.  And when you're done listening to that, click on the links below to actually witness these t...

On this episode, I go to a big nationwide protest that occurred on Saturday, April 19th 2025.  There were hundreds of these rallies held all over the United States of America.  And what were these brave souls protesting?  Was it an unjust war?  Was it systematic racism in the law enforcement system?  Was it about how they’re raising the percentage of contaminants that they can put in our drinking water?  No.  They’re protesting because the person they voted for in November didn’t win.  Now I’ve been talking shit about Trump since before it was cool (https://open.spotify.com...

On this episode, I let my instincts take over.  It's the same as when I'm driving my automobile.  I just tune out, tune in and turn the corner.  But this corner don't bend, if you get my meaning.  When you get out there, on the strip with the wind in the sand and the sand in your hair, you're going to wish you'd stayed home and just listened to this episode in your favorite bean bag chair  But you want to know a secret?  That's exactly where you are and that's exactly what you're doing and everything else is just a...

This episode is what we used to call a filler episode.  To me, those are the best.  There's no agenda here.  Nobody's trying to win any awards or dazzle any shareholders.  No.  This one is literally here for no other purpose then to not NOT be here.  It's so simple.  So take a break and don't listen to this episode, but remember to listen to yourself as you don't listen to this episode.  Otherwise you're just wasting your time, and that's the last thing we want.

This is a very special episode about laughing and believe it or not, it's still out there...somewhere.  Sure, you never really see it anymore but that doesn't mean it's gone for good.  It's like making model airplanes, or doing puzzles.  It's just not really done that much anymore.  It's not cool.  Quite frankly it's embarrassing.  You're not going to live in an upscale neighborhood if all you care about laughing.  No!

This show is for the people that don't live in upscale neighborhoods.

I'm writing this as I crouch in the stairwell of a shitty hotel.  The internet is so bad in my room that I had to walk down to the end of the hall where it's amazingly fast.  I might just get a sleeping bag and stream a movie out here, like camping!  We could light a nice fire and sing songs.  Man...I'd love to light this hotel on fire and sing songs.  Who knows?  Someday maybe.  Right now we have to focus on the show and that's what we're here to do. On the episode we talk to Mike Paine but more importantly we listen to Mike Paine, because when you have a prominent voice actor on you don't want to miss your opportunity to learn.  And not only is he a voice actor extraordinaire but he has decades of experience appearing on radio, books on tape, teaching and all sorts of other stuff.  Not only that but he's interviewed people like Slayer and Ozzy.  You can't imagine how much pressure that puts on a podcast host who stumbles through interviews and barely knows what he's doing - but you can lis...

On this episode I deliver one of my most heartfelt monologues.  I didn't want to talk about it a whole bunch in this episode description because I thought it would cheapen it.  Then after thinking about it for a few minutes, I decided that I wanted to cheapen it so I wrote up all these pages of gibberish.  So much so that the people at the [podcast distribution corporation] told me I was at risk of violating my contract so I said "oh yeah?!  Well you're at risk of violating this contract!!" and then I pulled my pants down and...

It's the beginning of our 18th season!!!  Can you believe it?  Wow.  Who would've thought.  I know I wouldn't have.  I didn't even want to!  They forced me to think about it and that's what I did lo these many months.  Like a ship lost at sea as she smashes on the rocks of destiny, herein lies another episode of the podcast the world needs now more than ever.  Be sure to like and subscribe.

This episode was going to be a big premiere, a sort of "re-birth".  My plan was to be very energetic and act like I'd never done a podcast ever before in my life.  I was going to have fake technical difficulties and interview somebody about plants.  I had it all set but you know what happened?  The time came to start doing my whole routine and I thought, 'nah.  I just don't feel like it'.  And that's what we have here.  Enjoy!!

This episode is dedicated to my girlfriend because she said she likes the episodes where I ramble on endlessly about nothing and so that's what I tried to do.  Now that I think about it, maybe she said that because she thinks it's really annoying and if I ramble on and on endlessly, eventually I will end up alienating my audience.  Without my audience, well...there's no need for this podcast, so maybe she told me this, so I'd give up doing the podcast and spend all of my time with her!  As I type that out though, that see...

A lot of people think that the film "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" is the very first movie with all post production, including color grading, done digitally.  But due to the release date being pushed back repeatedly, Jason X (aka Jason in Space) is actually the first film to be completely color graded digitally along with all the other post production.  But it didn’t come out until later.

On this episode, we talk to Greg Judd from The IDK's.  A lot of you are probably thinking "he already said that in the Episode Title" and that is true, but I wanted to make sure that was clear.  I mean, it might not mean a lot to you, but it means a lot to me!!  Not only do we talk to Greg Judd from the IDKs but we also debut three songs.  That means I am bringing this music to you, the human beings of earth and if that wasn't enough, we get a nice little synopsis of each...

This is an episode where I never once talk about the Friday the 13th holiday that happens every few months.  Could you call that a holiday?  What is Friday the 13th classified as?  I guess it's not a holiday.  It's just a day.  Apparently years that begin on Thursday have three Friday the 13ths.  One in February, one in March, and one in November, such as 2009, 2015, and 2026. Leap years that begin on Sunday also have three Friday the 13ths in January, April, and July.
