Life by the Spirit – An Invitation 

To live by the Spirit means more than belief; it’s a daily walk marked by surrender to the Holy Spirit. In this opening meditation for our newest series, we reflect on what it means to be led by the Holy Spirit, staying in step with His leading and guiding. You're invited into a deeper, Spirit-empowered way of living; right here, right now.

Promise of Eternal Life

“And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” – John 17:3 ESV

Eternal life isn’t just a future hope, it’s a present day reality found in knowing Jesus; and having an authentic, meaningful relationship with him. As you reflect on John 17:3, John 3:16, 1 John 5:11–12, and Romans 6:23, let these promises anchor your heart in the truth: you are loved, saved, and invited into life with God now and forever.

Promise of Justice 

“The Lord works righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed.” – Psalm 103:6 ESV 

God sees all. God knows all. And God acts with justice. This week’s meditation leads you into the steady assurance that injustice does not go unnoticed by heaven. We meditate this week on the beautiful, wonderful justice of God.

Promise of Comfort

“He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others.” – 2 Corinthians 1:4 NLT

God is near to the brokenhearted. Reflect on Psalm 34:18, Isaiah 66:13, and 2 Corinthians 1:3–4. Let this promise remind you that you are not alone—God’s comfort is personal, tender, and meant to be shared.

Promise of Renewal

That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. - 2 Corinthians 4:16 NLT

When you feel worn down, God offers renewal. Reflect on Isaiah 40:31, Titus 3:5, and 2 Corinthians 4:16. Let Him restore your strength and refresh your spirit from the inside out.

Promise of Deliverance

For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son, - Colossians 1:13 NLT

God is your Deliverer—faithful to rescue and restore. This meditation draws from Psalm 34:17, 2 Samuel 22:2, and Colossians 1:13. Cry out and trust the One who hears and acts.

Promise of Courage

The Lord is my light and my salvation—
so why should I be afraid?
The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger,
so why should I tremble? - Psalm 27:1 NLT

Courage doesn’t mean you’re fearless—it means you’re not alone. Reflect on Joshua 1:9, 2 Timothy 1:7, and Psalm 27:1. God’s presence gives you boldness to face what’s ahead.

Promise of Joy

Don’t be dejected and sad, for the joy of the Lord is your strength!” - Nehemiah 8:10 NLT

Joy isn’t tied to your circumstances—it’s rooted in God’s presence. In this episode, reflect on John 15:11, Psalm 16:11, and Nehemiah 8:10. Receive the strength that comes from lasting joy.

Promise of Love

The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying:
“I have loved you with an everlasting love;
I have drawn you with unfailing kindness. - Jeremiah 31:3 NIV

You are fully known and fully loved. This meditation centers on Romans 8:38–39, 1 John 4:16, and Jeremiah 31:3. Nothing can separate you from God’s love—not now, not ever.

Promise of Hope

This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary. - Hebrews 6:19 NLT

Hope isn’t wishful thinking—it’s confidence rooted in who God is. Reflect on Romans 15:13, Lamentations 3:21–23, and Hebrews 6:19. Let His promises anchor you in the middle of uncertainty.

Promise of Healing

But he was pierced for our rebellion,
crushed for our sins.
He was beaten so we could be whole.
He was whipped so we could be healed. - Isaiah 53:5 NLT

God sees every wound and promises to heal. In this meditation, reflect on Jeremiah 30:17, Psalm 147:3, and Isaiah 53:5. Whether physical, emotional, or spiritual—He is near to restore you.

Promise of Protection

The name of the Lord is a strong fortress;
the godly run to him and are safe. - Proverbs 18:10 NLT

God is your refuge and shield. This episode walks through Psalm 91:4, Isaiah 41:10, and Proverbs 18:10 to remind you: you are not alone, and you are not unprotected. He surrounds you.

Promise of Freedom

For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. - 2 Corinthians 3:17 NLT

Jesus sets us free—and calls us to live free. Reflect on John 8:36, Galatians 5:1, and 2 Corinthians 3:17. Let God break the chains of fear, shame, and striving with the truth of your freedom.

Promise of Victory

The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm. - Exodus 14:14 NLT

God has already won—and invites you to live from that victory. In this meditation, reflect on 1 Corinthians 15:57, Romans 8:37, and Exodus 14:14. You don’t fight alone. He fights for you.

Promise of Rest

So there is a special rest still waiting for the people of God. For all who have entered into God’s rest have rested from their labors, just as God did after creating the world. - Hebrews 4:9-10 NLT

When you’re worn out, God invites you to rest. This meditation reflects on Matthew 11:28–29, Exodus 33:14, and Hebrews 4:9–10. Let His presence restore your soul and calm your striving.

Promise of Wisdom

The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life.
I will advise you and watch over you. - Psalm 32:8 NLT

God gives wisdom freely to those who ask. In this episode, reflect on James 1:5, Proverbs 3:7, and Psalm 32:8. If you’re facing decisions or confusion, let God’s truth guide your next step.

Promise of Faithfulness

if we are faithless, he remains faithful—
for he cannot deny himself. - 2 Timothy 2:13 ESV

God doesn’t change when your circumstances do. In this meditation, reflect on Lamentations 3:22–23, 2 Timothy 2:13, and Hebrews 10:23. His promises are steady, and His mercy is new every morning.

Promise of Help

God is our refuge and strength,
  a very present help in trouble.
- Psalm 46:1 ESV

This week, we reflect on the Promise of Help—the assurance that God is near, attentive, and ready to strengthen you. Whether you’re facing something big or just feeling worn down, this meditation invites you to lift your eyes and rest in the truth: Help is here.

Promise of Guidance

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will counsel you with my eye upon you.
- Psalm 32:8 ESV

God doesn’t leave you to figure life out on your own; He promises to guide you. In this meditation, reflect on Psalm 32:8, Proverbs 3:5–6, and John 16:13. If you’re facing uncertainty or hard decisions, let God’s Word realign your focus and remind you: He is leading you, step by step.

Promise of Salvation

that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; - Romans 10:9 NASB

You don’t have to earn salvation; it’s already been given. In this episode, we reflect on the gift of grace and the certainty of God’s saving promise through Romans 10:9, Titus 3:5, and Isaiah 12:2. Come and rest in the truth: you are saved, secure, and deeply loved.

Promise of Strength

He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. - Isaiah 40:29 NLT

When you feel weak, God doesn’t expect you to power through; He invites you to lean in. This guided meditation leads you through Scriptures like Isaiah 40:29 and 2 Corinthians 12:9 to remind you that His strength shows up in your weakness. You’re not meant to carry it all. Let Him be your strength today.

Promise of Provision

And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19 NASB 1995)

You don’t have to strive to be provided for; God has already promised it. In this episode, we reflect on Philippians 4:19 and other Scriptures that remind you He knows your needs and delights in meeting them. Take a breath, release your worry, and rest in the truth: He will provide.

Promise of Peace

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. (John 14:27)

Peace isn’t something you have to earn or manufacture, it’s a promise God has already given. In this episode, we reflect on how God keeps us in perfect peace when we fix our minds on Him. Normally, when we think of an exchange, it is the version described in most dictionaries; “an act of giving one thing and receiving another (especially of the same type or value) in return.” But it should come as no surprise, that in God’s kingdom, everything is turned upside down. Ready

The word ready was sent in by Paige. Readiness isn’t passive—it’s an active, faith-filled response to God’s call. As faith filled believers, we are supposed to live our lives in a perpetual state of readiness. Ready for what God has in the present moment; what he is speaking and how he wants to release his kingdom on Earth through you. Lastly, we are to be like the five wise virgins who kept their lamps trimmed and filled with oil, ready for when the bridegroom returns.

Be Still

This word is from a dear friend who I have the privilege of personal training. It is a joy to be able to work together with her on her physical body, talking about spiritual things at the same time. She had mentioned her word for this year is "be still"; allowing her heart to be still, especially in the areas we cannot control. Trusting God with our hearts, and our lives.

Joy

This is not manufactured happiness, instead this is the joy that comes from abiding in Christ. It is only in the presence of God we find fulness of joy. Not only are we filled with His joy, He himself is filled with joy over us! When Jesus endured the cross for the joy set before him, within that joy was your face. He loves you and rejoices over you with gladness!

Gentleness

Gentleness or meekness is the opposite of self-assertiveness and self-interest. It stems from trust in God's goodness and control over the situation. The gentle person is not occupied with self at all. This is a work of the Holy Spirit, not of the human will. Not just towards others but also towards myself.

Hâlal

The word halal is probably one of my favourite words for praise. It means to boast, celebrate, rave, shine, or be clamorously foolish! God has created us to live fully alive and to have his abundant life flowing through us. The meaning of the word halal reflects this. As we have seen through each of the words for praise, this one too points to praise having a physical expression.

Zâmar

Welcome to week 8 of our series on Worship.

There is a song within you that no one else can sing as an offering of praise to the Lord. Zâmar means to make music, to celebrate in song, to pluck the strings of a musical instrument. We are called to praise with song and with music. This is a powerful expression of praise, and it is mentioned often in scripture.

Bârak

Bârak means to kneel, salute, or thank. To Bârak is to come and bless God with an act of adoration; the idea being to bow down before Him. This physical position is a very powerful one. To bow before God reminds me that He is God and I am not. He is the one who created me, originally from the dirt. It is an honor and a privilege to Bârak in the presence of my creator.
