Episode 242

Crunchyroll's giving us some sneak peeks for the upcoming Fall season, and boy oh boy does Frankfurtter have some thoughts on the event. Spoiler alert, he goes old man Frankfurtter on some attendees (yikes!).

Also, Tokypop is nearing the end of its public stock share offer for fans to invest in the company! A cool yet odd endeavor, this comes off the aftermath of a somewhat rocky 2025 year.

Lastly, a webtoon app is closing down in North America. What does this mean for the digital manhwa market??

Frankfurtter...

Episode 241

Frankfurtter and MagicallyAverage review the upcoming anime series releasing in the Fall season, giving their first impressions of the lineup and creating their new watchlists of shows. Episode 240

Ever wished there was a theme park tailored to us anime and manga fans? Sure, Universal Studios has a few attractions, but they're only temporary AND they only ever release in Japan! Well, our wishes have been granted. The universe has heard our cries and is answering our pleas! Yes, we are getting a manga-themed theme park!! In France... Also, might not be manga-themed... Also also, it's not going to be finished for a very, VERY long time...

This week's episode recaps the crazy rollercoaster (pun intended) fans experienced after the announcement...

Episode 239

This week's episode is a mixed bag of topics, or as Frankfurtter puts it, "like throwing pasta at the wall...." Yeah, it's gonna be one of those episodes.

The bakabois cover the recent release of Sony's PlaystationTV, Shonen Jump removing and adding new series, and the steady increase of online anime bullying amongst fans. As the topics suggest, things get more and more heated as the episode drags along. So make sure to buckle up because this one is going to be an especially bumpy ride!

Our condolences go out to the family of Hayden Panettiere.

Anime is no stranger to the video game adaptation. Pokemon. Persona. Ace Attorney. Heck, even Steins;Gate started off as a light novel before becoming a critically acclaimed anime series. Now, another beloved franchise is joining the anime family, but with a potentially interesting twist.

Yes, this past weekend at D23, Kingdom Hearts the anime was finally announced! However, little to no details were provided to the fans leaving many, like Frankfurtter and MagicallyAverage, to ponder over what the anime will be all...

In celebration of its 100th anniversary, Shueisha has opened a new site called Manga Million, giving online manga readers the chance to read one million pages of manga for free all around the World! New and old fans alike, Manga Million is giving manga readers the opportunity to explore series without paying any fee or even making an account! It's unclear how long the site will be open to fans, so be sure to head on over to the vast online library to read some series for yourself!

And lastly, MagicallyAverage reveals the King of all...

Well, we'd like to say we're surprised by the online anime community and their opinions towards Mushoku Tensei, but we're not. Each and every season, we are treated to the same arguments, the same rhetoric, and the same vitriol anime fans have towards Mushoku Tensei. The. Exact. Same. Now, do we hear these opinion pieces constantly? No. Do we hear new perspectives on fans of the show are just as disgusting as the anime itself? No. It's the same opinion fans regurgitate between one another over and over and over again... So, in the spirit of open discussions, MagicallyAverage...

The Summer convention season is still swinging big, from Anime Expo taking place at the beginning of July to San Diego Comic Con just having wrapped up this past weekend. With all of these major conventions happening in a short time frame there surely can't be many new or exciting announcements for the anime and manga fandoms, right? WRONG! SDCC surprised many with an enormous amount of manga announcements from publishers big and small across Japan! In fact, more manga publishers were present and presenting at SDCC than had been in attendance at Anime Expo! Crazy, right?! With all...

Crunchyroll. What was once a gateway for anime fans around the World to enjoy the medium they love so much has now transformed into something none of us ever wanted to see... Us fans always held on to hope that Crunchyroll would look out for us and not be seduced by corporate greed, settling on maximizing its profits rather than focusing on the entrustment of its fans. Now, its hard to ignore Crunchyroll's corporate gluttony as it continuously makes decisions that harm its fans all for the sake of higher earnings. This episode, Frankfurtter, MagicallyAverage, and our special guest...

A new season of BakaBites means a new season of anime! And boy oh boy, do we have an INSANE season of anime on our hands!! Frankfurtter and MagicallyAverage break into Season 21 of BakaBites with their first episode impressions of some of the anime releasing this Summer season. So, open up your watchlists and tag along as the bakabois give their first impressions...

Yet another season of anime in the books! But how well did the newest lineup of anime hold up to expectations? Spring seemed to come and go in the blink of an eye, but let's hope the anime didn't have that same effect. Frankfurtter and MagicallyAverage recap their Spring series and share their thoughts on the season as whole in the final episode of this season of BakaBites!

Business, business, business! Numbers, numbers... Is this working? Better yet, does anyone get this reference? Never mind... Yes! This week, Frankfurtter and MagicallyAverage are talking business! Specifically, the bakabois are recapping the latest Association of Japanese Animations symposium where industry leaders talk about the current state of anime. The topics included investing in the current labor market, capitalizing on overseas market demand, and improving marketing strategies. Even in a competitive market, it's refreshing to know that the leading production studios are collaborating with one another in an effort to improve the overall industry and create a thriving market for...

And the tradition continues! Yes, each and every quarter the bakabois grab their favorite bubbly drink, sit in their orthopedic chairs (cause they're old and their backs hurt), and scroll through livechart.me to preview the upcoming season of anime. And, like always, they confident proclaim that they will watch 10, 15, 20 anime that are set to air, only to forget half of them and fall behind on their watchlist instantly. But, nevertheless, Frankfurtter and MagicallyAverage still perform this ritual of previewing and rating the upcoming anime season. While the Summer season is just like any other, let me tell you...

Ok, be honest with me. Did ANYONE know that the Crunchyroll store had an affiliate program?!? In the span of 24 hours I had learned about the existence of the affiliate program and also witnessed its closure. What a trip! This news sparked Frankfurtter and MagicallyAverage taking a deeper dive into the current state of the Crunchyroll store, specifically the quiet collapse of its manga marketplace. SKUs are being quietly removed. Series aren't being restocked. Even new releases are impossible to find at times! The bakabois look into all of the recent happenings over at the Crunchyroll store and try...
