Gillian and Phil’s guest on Episode 7 of Still Here, Still Queer is the wonderful Darren Johannesen. Darren is a longtime supporter of Joy 94.9FM,
a passionate environmentalist and an entrepreneur. He currently serves as the Sustainability Lead at the peak body for the renewable energy industry.

In his personal life, he is married to Michael, a father of three, and the custodian of a large garden and six chickens, as well as a big fan of John and Dolly!

After being rejected by his mother for being gay, Andrew faced the AIDS epidemic on the front line, nursing his dying partner and supporting our ravaged community through the physical and social horrors of the disease.

Now retired from his career in publishing and landscaping, he gets to devote more time to his lifelong love of painting.
