Trust Your Gut — It’s Smarter Than You Think - #25
#25

Day 25: An interesting one in every way.

Horse Progress:
– The horse with a tight lumbosacral showed a 50-60% improvement the moment we changed the saddle. Now I'll work on releasing long-held compensatory patterns in the body.
– The other horse showed the brewing signs of an abscess, my gut told me to stop, and the pain response confirmed it. Trusting that instinct likely prevented more damage and discomfort for the horse.

Sessions In & Out:
Both follow-up sessions today involved difficult cases, but both horses showed real progress, physically and ment...

Discipline Doesn’t Care About the Weather - #23
#23

Day 23 - Relentless rain shut down most of the outdoor work.
Only one horse worked; the rehab mare got her in-hand session.
Nothing big, but keeping the rehabilitation program on track.

Used the downtime for a town run, stocked up on essentials and then locked into study for the rest of the day and evening.

It didn’t look exciting.
But this is what discipline really is:
Doing what you can.
Holding your standard.
And moving forward, rain or not.

Push the Plan — Not the Pain - #24
#24
Last Sunday at 8:00 PM

Day 24 - Clear blue skies, crisp winter sun, ideal conditions to get six horses worked and progress locked in.

But performance isn’t just about the day.
It’s about patterns.

One horse felt unsupple through the lumbar-scaral region, not up to standard. I'll reassess with a different saddle, but no pushing through until it’s right.
Another showed subtle signs of discomfort. I didn’t feel it was behavioural, so I stopped. Checked in, held the standards.

This isn’t about being soft. It’s about being responsible.

And we’re se...

When You Rest Right, You Return Sharper - #22
#22
Last Saturday at 3:00 AM

Day 22. Clearer mind. Stronger energy. Back to full execution.

After a forced rest day, I hit the ground running today, working six horses on the farm and kicking off a new suspensory rehab case.
Sharp in the work. Present in the process.

Even the weather played fair, I managed to dodge every shower and stay warm all day!

Afternoon treatments were canceled due to illness, no frustration, just smart boundaries.
No need to risk exposure and undo the reset.

This is the reward of rest:
You don’t lo...

When to Stop Is Just as Important as When to Push - #21
#21
Last Thursday at 9:00 PM

Day 21. Storms rolled in again, but so did something else: the realisation that I wasn’t well.

Low energy from the day before now made sense. Today was a forced slowdown, sore eyes, brain fog, low resilience, and no capacity to work at full or even half pace!
I stayed warm and hydrated, allowing the day to unfold as it needed to, a recovery window.

I did what I could, but more importantly, I didn’t force what I couldn’t.

This is where high performance often gets misunderstood,
It’s not alwa...

Calm Is a Skill — Not a Mood - #20
#20
Last Thursday at 3:00 AM

Day 20. The work got done, horses treated and toplines visibly improving. Consistency is key!

But the mindset wasn’t sharp today. The reality of the next six weeks hit hard and I felt it.

Still, the standard didn’t drop. I worked four horses and had a major moment, mine spooked and bolted while I was leading another. It could’ve gone badly. But I didn’t panic.

I stayed calm. Made quick decisions. Controlled the outcome.

Staying calm amongst chaos isn’t a mood — it’s a skill.
One I’ve worked har...

The Cost of What Gets Missed - #19
#19
Last Wednesday at 8:00 AM

Back online and back to full momentum.

Started the day catching up on admin with internet finally restored.
Then it was tractor time, putting out the big rounds. Takes a few hours once a week, but it saves hours every day. The new big round haynets are working so well, highly recommend.

Worked four horses through the middle of the day, including a beautiful ride out the back of the farm, with hillwork and fitness training.
The afternoon was focused on treatments, and it ended with a difficult case.

A horse...

Offline, But Still On Mission - #18
#18
07/01/2025

No internet for 2.5 days, not ideal, but it didn’t stop momentum.

Yes, I was offline digitally.
But in every other way, I stayed connected to the horses, to the work, and to the priorities that matter.

~ 7:30 AM: Two new horses had full dynamic assessments. Calm focus, clear insight.
~ Quick trip into town to catch some Wi-Fi and take care of essential messages.
~ Back at the farm to work two more horses — good sessions, both physically and mentally.
~ And finally, the gum tree came down safely after days of tension. No dama...

Stayed Calm. Made Quick Decisions. Kept Moving Forward - #10
#10
07/01/2025

5AM: rehab plans sent, schedule locked.
Midway through, laptop screen goes black. No warning. No backup.

This could’ve been a meltdown moment.
But instead, I stayed calm, made a quick decision. Took action!
One hour window, dropped the riding, drove to town, got it sorted.

By end of the day:
 – 5 horses treated
 – 1 dog (post-cruciate surgery)
 – Laptop fixed - huge credit to iFix for the rapid turnaround.

Plans break. Pressure hits.
But forward is still the only direction.

Pain to Performance - #17
#17
07/01/2025

The day started with a sad setback: a horse in clear discomfort from an ill-fitting saddle.
Recommended by a professional, trusted by the owner, but completely the wrong fit.
The result? Spinal dysfunction, pain, and a long-term impact that never should’ve happened.
It was a harsh reminder that when expertise falls short, the horse carries the cost.

But, the day didn’t stay there!

Next up: coaching the Tauranga Dressage Group.

Polework sessions that pushed riders beyond comfort and into clear progress, winter training exercises with purpose.
Then treat...

Strategic Thinking, Static Assessments & A Storm Reset - #16
#16
07/01/2025

Today was about forward momentum, even when systems went offline.

Started by using AI strategically while driving, not for shortcuts, but for structured thinking and brainstorming on the move.
Followed it up with the JT Foxx AI webinar, the game has changed for the future of AI.

Worked with the new horses on-site, completed full static assessments, and began mapping tailored conditioning plans, foundation before performance.

At 2PM, the storm hit again and took the internet with it.
No screens. No systems. No distractions.
 Just space to reset, unp...

Discipline, Decisions, and Designing Peak Performance - #15
06/28/2025

Recorded at 8:30AM, on the road, and fully switched on.
This morning, I broke down three shifts that are sharpening how I operate:

Alcohol-free, Day 83: A 100-day commitment to test my limits. The verdict? Clearer thinking. Better physical performance.
Living off-grid: Running a 75-acre farm and two businesses on solar — the systems, mindset, and daily decisions it takes.
Morning podcast switch: Why I’ve moved from evening to morning recordings — to maximize energy, clarity, and execution.

This isn’t about perfection.
It’s about int...

Storms, Setbacks, and Still Showing Up -#14
06/27/2025

The day started at 5AM with a UK-based equine assessment webinar.

Then straight on the road to treat horses. Got through two sessions with one at the Riding for Development before the weather turned.

Severe storm conditions forced me to cancel the rest, safety comes first when you're working with live animals in chaos.
Came home to a tree coming down on the property. Quickly brought the young horses and their companion into the barn to stay safe while we handled it.

Dog to the vet for a cruciate check. Then out f...

Boot Camps, Drywall, and the Business of Getting It Done - #13
06/26/2025

Today compressed the roles and the clock, everything had a deadline, and nothing could wait.

Started with heavy lifting (literally): helping the builder install jib panels in the high ceilings for ongoing renovations. Not my title. Not my job. But it had to get done, so I did it.

Welcomed two new horses for a 5-week strength & conditioning boot camp. Structured, specific, outcome-driven.
In between? Finalised lesson plans, kept study hours tight, and prepped for a day on the road.

It’s not about sticking to one task. It’s about executing whate...

No Excuses. No Shortcuts. Just the Work - #12
#12
06/25/2025

Up at 4AM. Two hours of M&A training. Ninety minutes into my advanced diploma. Then a full day treating horses.
In the between, I reviewed client rehabilitation plans.

Some are executing. Some are making excuses.

Let’s be clear: 10 minutes can be found. Success in business, rehab, or performance, does not respond to excuses.

There’s only the plan. And whether or not you do the work.

Results Aren't Solo, They're Powered by Poeple -#11
#11
06/24/2025

Today was a full day treating horses and a clear reminder that the best results don’t come from working alone. They come from aligning with skilled professionals who elevate the outcome.

In rehab, business, or performance strategy isn’t just what you do, it’s who you do it with.

Quite Wins, Clear Intentions - #9
#9
06/22/2025

No breakthroughs, no spotlight, just real work done right.
 ~ Resolved system issues.
~ Joined a 1 AM AI webinar with JT Foxx, incredible insights, and exciting future
~ Led a rewarding session with a rescue case.
 ~ Prepped the barn for July’s limited client intake: 3 horses, select-only, 4 & 6 week program.

Also, I made a mistake during recording and referred to a horse as “it.” That’s not my standard, and I addressed it at the end. When you hold yourself to a high bar, you own it when you fall short. That’s how you grow!

Frustration, Focus, and the Turning Point! - #8
#8
06/21/2025

Some days don’t go to plan, systems break, answers don’t come, and energy gets drained. Today was that kind of day!

But instead of fighting what I couldn’t fix, I shifted gears. Got back to what grounds me, moved with purpose, not pressure. The winter solstice marked the year’s shortest day and a quiet reminder that from here, the light builds, and so does the momentum.

Client Wins, AI Leverage & The Next Evolution - #7
#7
06/20/2025

A recap of the past two days away, the impact delivered to regular clients, and how AI is simplifying content creation.

Plus, an exciting pivot: the launch of a dedicated equine podcast summarising key horse issues and solutions from the field.

Committed Clients, Committed Results - #6
#6
06/19/2025

Today’s episode is about commitment, the kind that shows up when clients drive an hour each way to get their horses treated, then follow through on every plan that’s put in place.
Because when the right clients show up consistently, the results do too.
That’s the kind of work I want to be known for.

Heavy Lifting Today for Lighter Days Ahead - #5
#5
06/18/2025

Today was about doing the heavy lifting — both behind the desk and out on the farm. From exploring how AI could streamline parts of the business to moving horses and rolling out the big bales, everything was about setting things up for smoother days ahead.

The payoff?

Gaining back 2–3 hours daily and creating space to end the day doing what I love. Sometimes the smartest thing you can do is front-load the effort.

Still Days. Steady Work. Strong Why - #4
#4
06/17/2025

Today was quite different and exactly what I needed.

A clear blue sky, work in the heart of the national park, and the kind of rhythm that reminds you why you do what you do.

I treated five working dogs for one of my VIP clients (shoutout to The Dog Box), then closed the day with a long-standing equine client.

Quiet moments. Meaningful work. These are the days that fill your cup.

No Time. No Room. Still Delivered - #3
#3
06/16/2025

Today was fully booked, every minute scheduled, no margin for error.

But neither business or animals care about your calendar! Unexpected problems hit. No time. No room. Still delivered.

In this episode, I break down what real efficiency looks like when pressure disrupts your plan — and how resilience, not routine, is what drives results.
