EP 27: LESSONS LEARNED ON THE FARM
#30

We have a very special guest this week, a long-time supporter of the podcast, an even longer friend to each of the crew, and most importantly, one heck of a human being.

Alse joins us to talk about his farming life, what it's been like to start farming from scratch, and what kind of lessons have been learned growing up around the agriculture industry.

Also, we give a recap of the Ag on Ice farm show in Devil's Lake, do we think more shows should be this way? YES!  And, we got to meet a celebr...

Ep 26: Precision 3D Printing And Carpet Farming, The Way Of The Future
#29
01/31/2026

Special guest this episode, Eric from Eric's Custom 3D Grain Setups talks us through his business of custom, one-off 3D printed grain bins and elevators.  How has the toy/collector market changed over the last decade, how much detail can be applied with current technology, and how he's built this business from the ground up.

He also talks about how he is able to take practically any farmer's grain bin setup, just using pictures sent in by the farmers, to make a precision scale replica.

He was also generous enough to donate one of his ligh...

01/17/2026

He's finally here in person, Brad The Cobbler!  We got a chance to kidnap him off the farm for a sit down about what it's like completely changing careers after a decade+, the differences between constant public interaction, and the sometimes more remote life on the farm, and the mental health perks of farming.

Ep 24: New Year, New Farm
#27
01/03/2026

After year of tough commodity prices, (grow red potatoes, they're not commoditized), lean rain, and high expenses, what are some changes you would like to make to better your farming situation?

We talk about our own personal goals, as well as the goals we have for each other. Remember, it can be helpful to get an opinion from the outside looking in.

And of course, what seems to have become our staple segment, auction purchases. Who's trying to capitalize on the "new" government kickbacks, or is it just lazy farming?

  We also discuss the...

State of the Onion 3
#26
12/27/2025

It's time for a new year, new (evolving) us, bleh.  We wanted to make a quick short to thank all of our listeners thus far, give a quick history recap, and let everyone know what we have planned for the upcoming year.

Our biggest change will involve bringing on guest, who have different jobs/hobbies in agriculture, and that could potentially be you! E-mail us your information, and what you would like to talk about on the podcast, and you could be a special guest Inebriated Agriculturalist for the show!

We also have more, and much...

And of course, updates on the day-to-day happenings (lots of auction updates, it's for the kids).

Happy Holidays from all of us at the Degenerative Agriculture Podcast!

EP 22: SIDE HUSTLES, WINTER IS HERE!
#24
12/06/2025

In honor of our first icy road day of the winter, we got together to discuss our personal side hustles to make some extra cash to cover taxes, rent, and lavish vacations, until farming kicks into gear next spring.  We even have a special listener guest stop by to show us the results of her winter activities (yes, you can bribe us to maybe appear on an episode).  And, to wrap it up, what do farm wives do for side hustles?

Unfortunately, we also have to announce Captain Corporate made a decision this week that will haunt him...

EP 21: SLEEP DEPRIVATION, THE NEVER ENDING BATTLE
#23
11/22/2025

On this episode, we discuss one of the more overlooked health aspects of farming: sleep deprivation. How does it affect performance, what do you do to counteract the effects, and tips/tricks to maximize the little amount of sleep you get during the full-on onslaught of planting/harvesting/cattle farming.

We also follow up on previous episode topics, fill you in on auction purchases (they never seem to stop), and most importantly, answer listener questions.

And, how can I forget, BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!!!! We've got officially branded hats for sale now. Listen in for more information, vis...

EP 20: Service Trucks, the Pacemaker of the Farm
#22
11/08/2025

The Son of Saline Soil goes on an epic rant, new knives, tractor sandwiches, and injuries.  We answer listener questions, get off topic, and then back on topic to the main topic:  If we had the chance to build a service truck with multi-corporation farmer money, what are the top 5 features we'd be sure to have.  Plus, at the time of release, we officially have hats available for sale, pricing and purchasing info will be included in the next episode, or posted on Patreon and all social media's before then.

19: Rodent Control
#21
10/25/2025

It's that time of year, the crops are coming off the fields and the vermin are moving into the farmsteads for the winter.  Every degenerate has their own way of managing, or at least attempting to manage the unwanted pet population.  We also try and help a "friend or two" with their infestation issues.

Beet harvest is in full swing, so we give a regional update, and of course, progress of the most important non-commodity crop, potatoes.

EP 16 Weather: Who Do You Trust
#18
09/13/2025

We dive into the hot debate on weather prediction, inaccuracies in modern forecasting, which apps are the most reliable, and, the reliable old farmer's ways of predicting the weather.  Do their methods still prove effective today?

We wrap it up with discussing rain gauges, and why we should all move to the 1/8" measurement system instead of the current tens base we use now.

He fills us in on life west of Interstate, current markets, and his one of a kind breeding program.  We also get an impromptu update from Captain Corporate, continue to ignore the metric system of measurement, and toss around knowledge on the best way to remove a stuck bolt.

Cover Crops and Passive Income
#14
07/19/2025

The farmer's dictionary states the definition of passive income as:

"Unlike monetary income, passive income involves buying unnecessary equipment for a single use, or "future ideas", but ends up being parked in a heap with the rest of your junk.  Passive refers to the opportunity that has passed you buy.  Income refers to the ever-growing collection of unneeded "cool" things."

There's a bit of a lull in the growing season, so we're talking about recent auction purchases, Annual Tractor rides  honey bees, business ideas for down time, cab over semi's, cover crops, and crop rotation.
