Built on the mantra “run the runnable,” we focus on what’s possible rather than the pressure of perfection. Everything we do embraces an accessible, light-hearted, and sustainable way of training and racing - welcoming runners of all abilities to join the adventure. Inspired by nature and the freedom of the outdoors, we marry our laid-back approach to running with a tenacious desire to push the limits of what’s possible. We prioritise community, inclusivity, and a balanced way to run, encouraging everyone to embrace their own version of what’s “runnable.” That’s Runnable is here to inspire you to enjoy the run...

#71 - Passion vs Obsession: Running For The Long Run

Running has been the dominant force in Tommy’s life for years. Ultra running, structured training, and long-term goals have provided purpose, direction, and meaning — and it remains something he takes seriously.

In this episode, Tommy reflects on the fine line between passion and obsession, and explores whether total commitment to running always protects that relationship, or whether it can sometimes quietly wear it down.

He speaks honestly about the feeling of it all becoming a bit much, the desire to explore other interests without guilt, and why this year he’s taking a more psycho...

#65
11/20/2025

Sit down with Drew Jonkmans - ultra-endurance adventurer, mental-health advocate and a guy who refuses to let the plan define the story. His recent project, “Project Endure,” set out to run 1,000 miles from Land’s End to John O’Groats and then cycle the same route back, all in service of raising funds for two charities: Bigmoose (fast-access therapy for those in crisis) and BecomingX Foundation (life-skills for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds).

Tommy shares his own story of diving deep into the barefoot movement (yes, including the Altra phase) and how his perspective has evolved from obsession to balance. Backed by scientific studies and a healthy dose of realism, Tommy looks at why people who grow up barefoot tend to have stronger arches, wider feet, and fewer deformities, and what that means for the rest of us.

#57 - How to Peak Again: Building Your "Prime 2.0"
#57
09/25/2025

Tommy challenges the myth of a single athletic “prime” and reframes it as a practice, not just a performance peak. Drawing on stories of late-blooming ultra runners and the lived reality of training through setbacks, he argues that listeners may not be past their best - and that even if they are, what matters most is showing up.

As always, this blends philosophy and practical coaching: running easy to build longevity, touching intensity wisely, lifting the big rocks in the gym, moving well through full ranges, eating like recovery matters, and treating rest as training. Tommy also explo...

Most runners know they should be doing strength work.
But they either:

I’ve been there. I’ve coached people through it. And it’s exactly why I became a personal trainer and running coach.
