F1 Full Races
Here you will find audio commentary of all classic F1 races!(Usually from the brilliant Murray Walker Where possible)Unfortunately, over the years, FOM & the FIA have a bad habit of deleting peoples often brilliant F1 related content because of the visuals. So, here, hopefully being able to just listen to commentary and the beauty that is the various F1 engines over the years will be a joy!
2000 Belgian GP *Round 13* (ITV Commentary - Murray & Martin)
First up, This was Minardis 250th race (Impressive given their lack of points over the years).
There would be a 3rd constructor to finish on the podium 250 times.
The pole sitter would be his countrys last until 2003 too.
BUT, this race was remembered for one of the GREATEST overtakes in F1 history.
A Lap 13 spin put the leader almost out of contention, but he would fight back in extraordinary style and a move with a Backmarker in the middle would cement this as one of his best moves and wins!
<...2000 Hungarian GP *Round 12* (ITV Commentary - Murray & Martin)
The championship was hotting up now!
After 2 consecutive first lap incidents for Schumacher, he HAD to avoid anything and finish well.
2 points seperated the German and the 2 mclarens so this was an extremely decisive race!
Barrichello was only 10 points behind after his famous Germany win, so all to play for!
(Witha Ferrari podium, they would be the first constructor to reach 450 podiums)
Drivers standings AFTER the race:-

2000 Austrian GP *Round 10* (ITV Commentary - Murray & Martin)
The championship battle was heating up with the two Mclarens homing in on the Scarlet bullet.
A win here would see either Hakkinen OR Coulthard (Who was his 100th race start incidentally) really ramp up the pressure...
A first corner collision would determine just that.
This was also the debut of Luciano Burti who replaced the very unwell Eddie Irvine.
Drivers Standings AFTER the race:-

2000 German GP *Round 11* (ITV Commentary - Murray & Martin)
This is one of my all time favourite races.
Ok so, Eddie irvine was back first of all.
Then there was so much stuff happening during the race, it was hard to contain all excitement.
A track intruder, a Flying arrows, Huge crashes (including a championship contender into the first corner), A Ferrari starting 18th and towards the end, because as if the race wasn't spicy enough, RAIN!
Thanks to that rain and the bravery of one driver, He would go on to claim his most memorable and popular victory! His...
2000 French GP *Round 9* (ITV Commentary - James Allen & Martin)
The championship swing started heating up, What was meant to be another year of Mika Vs Michael, seemingly was NOT going that way thanks to David Coulthard and his excellent form (Apart from what happened in Canada).
You know where a driver is just SOOO Good during a race that nothing can stop him, yes, this was this race winners kind of day.
It also gave us another memorable middle finger moment!
Drivers Standings AFTER the race:-
1 | (DEU) Michael Schumacher | 56
2 | (GBR) David Coulthard
2000 Canadian GP *Round 8* (ITV Commentary - Murray & Martin)
A bit of randomness would be thrown into the air during this race!
What started off dry, ended up wet and as always would separate the men from the boys!
After a bit of a Mclaren fightback in recent rounds, Schumi & Ferrari could do with a victory to strengthen their grip on the title.. Could it be done at J.Vills home track?
Drivers Standings AFTER the race:-
1 | (DEU) Michael Schumacher | 56
2 | (GBR) David Coulthard | 34
3 | (FIN) Mika Hakkinen | 32

2000 Monaco GP *Round 7* (ITV Commentary - Murray & Martin)
You don't know what you will get with Monaco.
Either the most boring race on earth, or an absolute mental and sensational race?
2000? This fell into the mentally sensational, Red flags, Aborted starts, Race stops, Crashes at the hairpin, Unlucky luck for some, amazing luck for others and if you looked at the starting grid, you probabaly wouldn't expect the outcome of the winner.
Jarno Trulli started from the front row alongisde MIke Schumacher for the first time, what could he do?
Overall, Beautiful day and a magnificent race!

2000 European GP *Round 6* (ITV Commentary - Murray & Martin)
The European GP at the Nürburgring (For the 5th Time) was moved to May from September thanks to the inclusion of the US GP.
With teams & Drivers testing many new parts during the weeks before the race, the question was? Could anyone stop Schumacher?
Coulthard said 3 broken ribs wouldn't slow him down, Hakkinen said Schumi should be worried after the last 2 races with a Mclaren 1-2..
What would a wet Germany provide?
(Nick Heidfeld would be DSQ'ed from the race with an underweight car)
Drivers s...
2000 Spanish GP *Round 5* (ITV Commentary - Murray & Martin)
All the talk leading up to this race was not the championship battle, but rather the horrific plane crash that David Coulthard had been involved in the week before. He suffered bruising to his right rib cage and severe elbow grazing, while sadly, Rangers FC Chairman David Murray (Whose plane it was) lost his personal pilot David Saunders and co-pilot Dan Worley in the crash.
Jacques Villeneuve was also declared fit to race. At the Brazilian Grand Prix, Villeneuve sustained a back injury after his seat became loose during the race, and the worsening effects caused him t...
2000 British GP *Round 4* (ITV Commentary - Murray & Martin)
Mclaren Really needed a strong result at an unusually dated British GP (Mainly because of Easter being later than usual and it was hard to get other venues to change their dates for various reasons).
Schumi was on a role, but both he & Mika know exactly how quick fortunes can change in F1.
So would the Mclaren - Mercedes combo finally get their first win of the 2000 season?
OR would the dominant German go in for 4 wins in a row?
Drivers Standings POST Race:-
1 | (DEU)
2000 San Marino GP *Round 3* (ITV Commentary - Murray & Martin)
Another brilliant race.
Mclarens so far had scored 0 points thanks to the unreliability and DCs DSQ from Brazil.
Schumi had won the first 2 races, so could Mclaren finally score and upset the Ferrari powerhorse scampering away?
Drivers Standings POST race:-

2000 Brazilian GP *Round 2* (ITV Commentary - Murray & Martin)
After a strong start for Ferrari, could they continue at a track where Mclaren & especially Mika Hakkinen has been so dominant the last few years?
Or would the reliability of the Silver team creep its way back in?
Schumacher would break a record at this race and Young Jenson Button would score his first points in only his second race.
*Note & BIG SPOILER*
David Coulthard was Disqualified after the race due to an illegal front wing endplate. McLaren submitted an appeal with the Fédération Internationale de l...

1999 Japanese GP *Round 16* (ITV Commentary - Murray & Martin)
This is it.
Eddie Irvine leads Mika Hakkinen by 4 points.
The pressure was on the Mclaren, simple.. He HAD to win the race to win the championship, regardless of where Irvine finished.
IF Mika finished 2nd, He would be world champion if Eddie finished no higher than 5th.
Eddies last race for Ferrari before he went to Jaguar for 2000, could he take the number 1 spot with him?
Also, this would be the last race for Damon Hill, Tora takagi, Alex Zanardi & the Stewart Team.
See you in 2000!<...
1999 Malaysian GP *Round 15* (ITV Commentary - Murray & Martin)
DRAMA! The first ever Malaysian GP was an epic one as, not only did the championship battle heat up with 2 rounds to go, Michael Schumacher was back and boy, was he back with a bang!
With Frentzen & DC Effectively out, this was between Eddie & Mika..
So, who would come out, on top in the heat of Malaysia?
This would also be Johnny Herberts 29th & Last points finish in F1.
Another fun stat - Eddie Irvine had 4 wins, and only 4 front row starts in his career.

1999 European GP *Round 14* (ITV Commentary - Murray & Martin)
This race goes down as one of the most exciting races of all time.
Whatever could go wrong for 85% of the field did go wrong, and what we ended up with was one of the most insane podiums and winner in F1 history.
A new team would win, An Italian would take his first EVER podium (But the last for his team)
Minardi also scored their first point since the 1995 Australian GP with Pedro Lamy!
The championship battle had to take a back seat with this one!
Drivers Standings...
1999 Italian GP *Round 13* (ITV Commentary - Murray & Martin)
As the tense 1999 Title fight draws to an ever closer close, this is one race Mika & Eddie NEEDED to do well at, Especially for Eddie at Ferraris home track.
However, it would be anything but that and one HUGE moment for Mika would swing the championship wide open!
Heinz-Harald Frentzen would also be suddenly thrust upon the title fight as well..
Mclaren vs Ferrari Vs Jordan!
This would also be the last ever race win for the winner and for engine suppliers Mugen.
This would also be Damon Hills l...
1999 Belgian GP *Round 12* (ITV Commentary - Murray & Martin)
With the drivers championship heating up, we return to the scene where just one year earlier, the crashes of all crashes happened.
Luckily, this time it was dry and Coulthard had a decent race.
But what about Hakkinen & Irvine? What about Frentzen who was in the battle too?
Also, this WOULD be the 56th and last time 1996 Champion Damon Hill would score championship points.
(Also, the fact that Schumi was still in 5th place in the championship was amusing)
Drivers Standings AFTER the race:-
<...1999 Hungarian GP *Round 11* (ITV Commentary - Murray & Martin)
Things were looking desperate at the top for the Mclaren boys.. They NEEDED a strong result here! Could Eddie keep up his momentum or would the ever present Jordan of H-H Frentzen spoil the party?

1999 German GP *Round 10* (ITV Commentary)
After a brilliant win for Eddie last time out, could he continue the streak and put a dent on Mikas world title ambitions?
Well, not if the Finn, Heinz-Harald Frentzen and team-mate Mika Salo had anything to do with it!
This was by far & away Salos best race and o, what could have been!
More drama as well with Damon Hill, who apparently retired a healthy car, seemingly pointing at his overall retirement again.

1999 Austrian GP *Round 9* (ITV Commentary - Murray & Martin)
After the horrific leg breaking crash for Michael Schumacher at the last round in Britain, F1 returned to the classic Austrian track with Mclaren looking to take advantage and Eddie Irvine trying to become the new title challenger.
How would a Schumacher-less race go for the Scuderia with Mika Salo replacing the German.
This would also be the last race Pedro Diniz would score points in.
Drivers standings AFTER the race:-

F1 Full Race Audio coverage for the British GP 1999 with ITV Commentary!
In an already, somewhat chaotic & Unpredictable 1999 continued with one of the surprises of the season.
One of the biggest shunts of the year would happen to one of the title contenders and rule him out of racing for a few months.
Amazingly, the red flag you will here in lap one only came about because Race Director Charlie Whiting accidentally hit the red flag button instead of the pit exit open button. That is why the chaos ensued and a championship...
1999 French GP *Round 7* (ITV Commentary - Murray & Martin)
F1 Full Race Audio coverage from the French GP at Magny Cours 1999 with ITV Commentary.
This was a classic race for the ages.
Wet all weekend saw Rubens Barrichello in the Stewart start from pole, With Jean Alesi Sauber 2nd, and Olivier Panis Prost 3rd.
The race would dice back and forth between Rubinho, Mclaren & Ferrari but one very surprising winner would emerge.
This race also saw Damon Hill announce his retirement from the sport at the end of the year.

1999 Canadian GP *Round 6* (ITV Commentary - Murray & Mark Blundell)
With the Ferraris flying, this could be a race where they break away from the quicker, yet more fragile Mclaren.
This race, however, would be where the very last chicane got its now infamous "Wall of Champions" name, and one of those champions would make life harder for himself.

<...1999 Spanish GP *Round 5* (ITV Commentary - Murray & Martin)
F1 was back in Spain as the title fight continued to heat up!
The Mclarens were fast but slightly unreliable.
The Ferraris seemed fast and reliable, but Mika was a specialist on this track in 1998, could he turn a bit of a disappointing 1999 into a good one?
Well, not if the boys in red had anything to do about it.
Mika Hakkinen was also the first ever Finnish driver to achieve 20 Front row starts!

1999 San Marino GP *Round 3* (ITV Commentary - Murray & Jody Scheckter)
This was meant to be another straight forward fight for the win.
Mclaren VS Ferrari, Mika VS Michael.
As it would turn out, it would be anything other than that.
A HUGE moment would transform the race and with other surprising moments happening, it was left to a familiar face to win, but someone elses first podium since 1997.
This was also Saubers 100th Grand Prix start (The 22nd constructor to achieve the milestone)

Notes:-
Luca Badoer missed this race due to an injured hand. Stephane Sarrazin (The Prost test driver) took his place which would ultimately be his only F1 statrt.

This it it.
Michael Schumacher Vs Mika Hakkinen.
4 points.
If Schumacher won, he & Mika would have the same amount of wins in a year, but the title would go to Hakkinen IF he finished second on countback of the Finn having more 2nd places than Schumacher.
Tension was thick! But drama would unfold even before the start...
(Also, this would be the last ever race for Shinji Nakano, Esteban Tuero and sadly, the whole Tyrrell team)
Final Drivers Standings:-

1998 Luxembourg GP *Round 15* (Murray & Martin ITV Commentary)
2 Rounds left. 80 Points a piece between Schumacher & Hakkinen.
Who would take first blood heading into the final round in Japan?
An all Ferrari front row (The first one sensationally for Eddie Irvine) swung it in the Scuderias favour, but who was coming out singing and swinging through the race?
Incidentally, this would also be Ricardo Rossetts Last ever F1 race in his Tyrrel & it was Jean Alesis 150th GP Start.

Also, With Villeunueve on the front row, this would be the last for a Canadian until 2017.

1998 Belgian GP *Round 13* (ITV Commentary - Murray & Martin)
For me, This is where my love of F1 began! The first race i ever watched as an 8 year old kid and it had me hooked for life!
The craziest of races happened!
The huge start crash, a championship contender getting knocked out at turn 1.
Another contender misjudged a line and SMASHED a wheel off.
The third contender had a miserable race out of the points..
So, on this day of opportunity, WHO Would come and upset the odds?
Everyone loved this day for good reason!
<...1998 Hungarian GP *Round 12* (ITV Commentary)
Another Mclaren front row lockout seemed to just spark the inevitable.
A Mika win, DC second, Schumi 3rd but pushing.
But today was different.
Ferrari, on a different strategy, knew that was the only way to beat Mclaren, and the German Maestro delivered a set of laps that would still be talked about in awe to this day..
It would also be the 3rd place drivers LAST podium until 2001 but last for his current team.

1998 German GP *Round 11* (Murray/Martin Commentary)
Michael Schumachers home race was an important one to win if he had any chance of keeping up with the Flying Finn and the super Mercedes Machine.
Would things go to plan, or would Mika get his second win a row? Or could the Williams cars finally conjure up a race win for the year.

1998 British GP *Round 9* (ITV Commentary)
This race was famous not only for it being a typically wet race for the UK but in the manner that the winner had won.
Faced with a 10 second stop go penalty in the very late aspects of the race, the winner had to make a desicion.
Take it and finish second, or try something that even the suits at the FIA would not have thought of..
Well, the wily smarts paid off and it would not only change Silverstone and the rules for years to come, it also cost 3 stewards their jobs.<...
