A White Pine County man is facing federal charges for allegedly starting two wildfires on public land in northern Nevada.

A grand jury indictment unsealed in Reno accuses Henry Conrad Vogler of setting the Lookout Springs Fire in Spring Valley in June of 2022, and the North Creek Fire in the same area in July of 2024. Authorities say both fires were intentionally set on public land without authorization.

 Henry Conrad Vogler is the legal name of White Pine County Commissioner Hank Vogler, who is running for re-election.

It was a great weekend at the White Pine Republican Committee Lincoln Day Brunch on Sunday, the 15th  and it was great to see and chat with so many of our listeners, supporters, and advertisers.  What was the most puzzling, though, was the total absence of any county officials, including the County Commissioners.  Now the Mayor of Ely was there.  But where were the Republican County Commissioners - including the newly appointed commissioner, Mr. Noriega, who had been appointed by the Governor, who was there!  White Pine County gets a lot of help from the state.  If the Commissioners want to kee...

Governor Joe Lombardo, Lieutenant Governor Stavros Anthony, and several other dignitaries attended the White Pine Republican Committee Lincoln Day Brunch, but Ely Mayor Nathan Robertson was the only elected official that showed up.  None of the County Commissioners attended.  None.  Were they too busy studying what to cut from the County Budget or how many people they could get rid of in County Government?

Authorities have cleared the AMBER Alert for 10-month-old Leilani Williams from North Las Vegas. The Nevada State Police announced on their X page.


According to the North Las Vegas Police Department, the child was located unharmed, and Roderick was taken into custody by authorities without incident.



Authorities have issued an AMBER Alert for a 10-month-old girl from North Las Vegas, who may be with her father. 

The North Las Vegas Police Department says Leilani Williams was last seen near Martin Luther King Blvd. and Cheyenne Avenue around 1:40 a.m. on Thursday.

Two County Commission seats and six other positions are up for grabs in White Pine County along with three seats on the Ely City Council in the 2026 election.  Now everyone complains about elected officials and local government, but few people bother to vote…and even fewer throw their hat into the ring.  

If you’re upset with County or City government, it’s time to step up.  The FCC won’t allow me to stay on the air while I run - equal time requirements and all - but you can.  Filing...

While the County Commission meeting was going on, the Committee on Local Government Finance was meeting in Carson City, and Commission Chair Paula Carson and County Treasurer Catherine Bakaric squared off in front of the committee.  Wyatt had comments as well.  Enjoy this slugfest, though Chairman Marvin Leavitt kept it under control.  This is far from over!

At the White Pine County Commission meeting on February 11, 2026, the County Commission failed to recognize County Treasurer Catherine Bakaric (an elected public official) for public comment.  Immediately following the meeting, we extended the opportunity for Catherine to address our audience on what the Commission wouldn't let her say...and to let her remind people that the final Property Tax payments are coming up soon!
