Punk This Week
Punk This Week is a weekly podcast from Evan Minsker (see/saw, Pitchfork) and Nina Corcoran (Pitchfork, Rolling Stone), breaking down the latest releases in the world of punk rock. Each episode highlights two records with brief discussions of an additional four. It’s a wide survey of the world of punk, with international releases both from the deep underground of heavy music as well as discussions of rising stars reaching bigger audiences and venues.
75: Fugazi + Pura Manía
After discussing our listeners’ own sightings of Pokémon in the pit (following last week’s extensive Poké chat), we talk about Fugazi’s finally officially released sessions with the late Steve Albini. We also talk about new records by Pura Manía, Swirls, Yankee Bastard, Powerwasher, and Reek Minds.
Check out Fugazi’s 2005 set in Huntington, West Virginia and the Caddywhompus album Odd Hours.

73: Institute + hotbrothers
Evan and Nina underline what’s been true all along: we’re Oscar and Slimy. Evan hangs out with the Sleaze, their dachshund friend, and the End Press in Minneapolis. Ritual Cross’ David Anthony gets a very specific compliment(?) from a child. We discuss a revelatory grilled cheese and rank Chicago-style hot dog ingredients.
And of course, we talk about six great new punk records by Institute, hotbrothers, Heather the Jerk, Personal Style, Mod Lang, and Hillbomb.
Be sure to check out Nina’s Best New Music review of Twisted Teens’ Blame the Clown (an album disc...
72: Twisted Teens + Jacques Grêle
It’s time for Grimace lore, more viewings of Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie, filling plastic Easter eggs with Nerds for percussion purposes, and a cautionary tale brought to you by Revenge of the Sith. Otherwise we’re gushing about the new Twisted Teens album Blame the Clown, plus the latest from Jacques Grêle et les Fausses Fuites, BALEIA BALEIA BALEIA, P. Noid, Angel Girl, and Ozzie Hair. Also be sure to check out the new Class Act and Van Goth.

70: indirekt grell + En Kernaghan band
What’s that? We read books? That’s right, we talk about some of the books we’ve been reading. After Evan went to Tom Morello’s First Avenue benefit concert with Bruce Springsteen as the surprise “special guest,” here’s a poll for the listeners: Who would’ve been the funniest surprise if he brought out anyone but Springsteen or Zack de la Rocha?
Oh right we talked about new records, too: indirekt grell, En Kernaghan Band, Lovvbömbing!, Life Expectancy, Horsebag, and Cryogenic Division.

69: PLANT + Smetti Subito
We try to open the podcast by saying “fuck ICE” in unison, which falls apart when Evan introduces the podcast as Puck This Week. Following a tangent about Frasier, “Grunge Frasier,” the essential video of Kelsey Grammer falling off the stage, and Twilight Imperium, we discuss new records by PLANT, Smetti Subito, Two Thumbs Down, Disket, Hot Face, and Tomcat.

No spoilers in case you’re don’t want those, but click through the links for Evan’s top three and Nina’s top three.
A note to listeners that there's a longer unabridged version of this episode available on see-saw.fun and Mixcloud. The file for this full episode was too big for the podcast hosting service, so apologies for that!

Bonus Pod!: Overlooked Punk Favorites of 2025
This entire year except for those two weeks off, punk this week hosts Nina Corcoran and Evan Minsker have podcasted about six new punk records each week. Some of those weeks, we walked away with that sinking feeling: Shit, we missed one. Sometimes the best emo record of the year slips by because there were too many good options that week. Maybe it took months for a demo to find its way to YouTube from basement show cassette treasure.
Therefore, we have called to order a punk this week special titled “overlooked punk favorites of 2025 so fa...
44: Golomb + Guyscrapers
This week, a perfect slice of homemade triple berry pie turns around an arduous moving day, we pay tribute to Ichiro Suzuki’s Baseball Hall of Fame induction and perfect rapport with his dog, and the term “Cocteau Twins cash” is officially coined. We brought the latest from Golomb, Guyscrapers, G.I. Bill, Lash, Light Beams, and Los Retumbes.

We brought records by Panic Shack, Scud, Catchin’ Yetis, Visual Learner, Jug & the Bugs, and FRENZY. Also discussed: Michael Stipe (bye!), what’s on the rider for the graveyard prog metal show, and how jug punks are busting MJ Lenderman’s wristwatch monopoly.

42: Eddy Current Suppression Ring + Tunnel Vision
What does it mean to build community through a punk rock podcast? It means unintentionally encouraging listeners to show up to see/saw events bearing Frostie. We discussed new records by Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Tunnel Vision, Powerplant, DÄÄCHT, AYUCABA, and Sluta Ljug. Also discussed: Eddy Current’s non-EP single “Swimming Hole,” new albums by Cruelster and Dona Casque, the punk rock baking community, friends of Heat (1995), and the hazards of Rev’d Up Sprecher root beer.

41: Inch + Yuasa-Exide + boo/hiss
An innocent conversation about iced fluffy and Frostie Root Beer leads to a feverish research session about the Dog N Suds chain of restaurants, its mascot’s center of gravity, and whether or not our hosts will record a live episode at one of the remaining Dog N Suds locations. This episode—featuring conversations about new records by Inch, Boo/Hiss + Yuasa-Exide, the Couch, Useless Eaters, Screaming Target, and Tokarev—was not sponsored by Dog N Suds or The Materialists.

40: KISSLAND + still no P.E.A.C.E.
Summer rolls on as the co-hosts of Punk This Week share some thoughts about M3GAN 2.0 and some secondhand family gossip about Michael Stipe allegedly (allegedly!) being rude one time. Otherwise we’re digging into the exceptional new KISSLAND record, the completely stacked still no P.E.A.C.E. still WAR compilation, plus new ones from Xanny Stars, the Wulongs, Electric Chair, Physique, and Xerostomia. You wanna hear us celebrate wild new music and also chastise a bald alternative rock icon based on hearsay? Tune in! (Shoutout Henchman4Hire.com.)

39: media puzzle + Nuclear Fear
Our Midwestern punk pod duo are trying to beat the heat wave, which of course means they’re jumping in the pool, eating ice cream, and sweating it out at punk shows. This time they’re chatting about new records from Media Puzzle, Nuclear Fear, Mary Jam, Billiam, Skinhead, and Olive Seeds: An International Benefit for Mutual Aid in Gaza.
