I donât know where to go from here
Working through my own personal crisis of meaning. Processing. Grieving. Making decisions Iâm not prepared to make.Â
Some days Iâm fine. Some days I want to go out, kicking and screaming.
Meanwhile, where is God in all of this? I havenât given up hope.Â

Ethiopian training
In addition to their genetics, geographical location, lifestyle, and other cultural factors, the thing that makes Ethiopians run so fast might very well be their training. Or at the very least, it doesnât seem to hurt them very much.

Thoughts on Grand Slam Track
My fun solution to âthe problem of track and fieldâ if there is one.
Post-recording thoughts:
Points should also be awarded to a runner for leading (per lap).
Alternatively, we eliminate points altogether, and do something like tennis does, best of 5 sets (races). Might not be spectator friendly, but watching the same field go at it (and using different tactics) 5 days in a row on TV would be interesting. Kinda what happens at the Olympics where drama unfolds over an entire week.

Add me to the growing number of amateur runners who have thrived under this method. After just 9 months of this training, Iâve gone from 19:30 to 17:03, and that 17:03 was my first race as a 40 year old.

Where does my passion for training come from?
I have a feeling this episode wonât age very well but I wanted to be as open and as vulnerable as possible with where Iâm at in life right now and with this thing that has all but dominated my life outside of fear (fear of abandonment, fear of being alone, fear of pain, and fear of living in a meaningless or sinister universe).
In short, I continue to run because Iâm still competing against my younger self.

How to determine your easy pace
Perceived effort may not be the best way to determine your easy pace. The tendency for most people is to go too fast on easy runs. But in my case, I was going too slow.
