#18

Happy pride month peeps!

On this week’s episode I talk about the queer community; how I could really do with more queer friends, the Indian culture recognising third genders through history, how we still have a long way to go, and even a little about how I’m doing as a queer desi girly after coming out.

I hope you enjoy today’s episode as much as I enjoyed creating it, stick it on in the background, and let me know what you think!

#17
06/16/2025

Lavender marriage this lavender marriage that, I’ve lost count of how many times I said lavender marriage, but I can sure tell you this style of marriage is back.

To the girlies showing off their cute hot gay husbands, to Hollywood stars concealing their sexuality to avoid scandal, this form of marriage has caused a stir.

On today’s episode I talk about the future of lavender marriages, whether if my aunties would take it up as an option to get rid of their husbands who clearly hate them (closeted), if I would...

IDENTITY AND BELONGING AS A BROWN QUEER GIRL
#15
05/19/2025

I’m glad I set the record straight with my parents early on and let them crash out sooner than later because I don’t have the capacity to be dealing with their crash out in my 30’s.

Anyways, today it a chill one, yappa yappa yappa. identity is a weird, one minute I’m pretending to be the perfect Indian housewife in front of my relatives the other I’m shaking ass with my home girls and crushing on that fine girl with short hair.

If you need something in the background...

EPISODE 14: DESI’S ON THE ✨SPECTRUM✨

On today’s episode I attempt to self-diagnose myself, talk about the importance of acknowledging neurodiversity, invalidate my brain ANDD try to figure out if I’m on the spectrum. 🙃

Imagine if our desi parents had access to the knowledge and education we have now, I wonder if they would’ve had an easier time understanding their brains. Being more aware of my parent’s mental health has helped give them more grace and allow for forgiveness. It only took 25 years :) 😗

I’m not a doctor, but I hope this...

MY PARENTS ARE GETTING OLDER
#13
04/22/2025

Sat Sri Akal! On today’s episode I’ll be talking about the expectations of taking care of the elder generation and parents in the south Asian community.

Firstly, has anyone realised I’ve uploaded a day later? No this wasn’t intentional and very unlike me, blame my WIFI :( To be honest it’s a happy accident to see what works better in terms of upload days.

Being 25 has made me really appreciate the time I have with family and relatives because suddenly everyone is dying their grey hairs and adamant I need to star...

EPISODE 8: BREAKING NO CONTACT WITH MY DESI MUM ⛓️❤️‍🩹
#8
02/10/2025

This episode is for anyone struggling with complicated family relationships, believe me I know how ugly it gets. 🥲

I thought the day would never come where I get to actually say that out loud… so me and my mum are now besties and we can finally sleep at night in peace. 🥹💤

After years of blocking, fighting, arguing and ghosting, my relationship with my mum has reached a point of acceptance, that we are no longer the people we once were and it’s comforting to know we both cared enough to move forward with forgiven...

EPISODE 7: 2024 WAS WEIRD AF, BUT WE MOVE 🙃
#7
01/27/2025

I’m back from traveling and reflecting on what feels like a never-ending checklist. AM I THE ONLY ONE FEELING THIS CHAOTIC??

Since 2024 has felt like Gotham City in real life—and let’s be honest, it’s a bit of a write-off—here are three lessons I’m taking into this year:

1️⃣ Listen to your intuition—it will guide you away from toxic situations.

2️⃣ Time keeps ticking; don’t wait for the ‘perfect’ moment, live NOW! ⏳

3️⃣ You can’t outrun your problems—they’ll catch up. Face them head-on!

What’s one lesson...

When I tell you I’d love to live in India, I mean it. The village life is a simple life and on today’s episode I talk about just that. I share all the things I’ve learnt, how you must be grateful for what you have, and importa...

#23
10/07/2024

No matter how independent I become, the expectations of how my parents, culture, and society want me to be is something I think will never leave me.  (Expensive therapy bills pending!).

Today’s episode was difficult to record, and I felt very vulnerable sharing my story about how I struggle with balancing the perfect Desi daughter act with authentic Amma.

I talk about my struggles with becoming a compulsive liar, feeling feral during my first taste of true freedom, and how picking a side is no longer an option.

EPISODE 14: STORY TIME: HOW I CAME OUT TO MY DAD 🏳️‍🌈👳🏾‍♂️😅
#14
06/03/2024

Since it’s pride month, in this week’s episode I talk about my coming out story; the messy after math, what prompted me to come out and what I’ve learnt.

Queer people have existed from the beginning of time, so have South Asian queers. I strongly believe there needs to be better representation, so that my 12-year-old Amma self doesn’t think something’s wrong with her, and future generations can feel safe and confident enough to live authentically.

If you’re brown/ ethnic/ have a troubled relationship with your parents, you’ll know th...

05/06/2024

This translates to ‘You Look Fat’. Awful I know…

On today’s episode I talk about how normalised it is for our society to say such wild comments, and how I overcame a lot of my insecurity.

I also mention my relationship with health, nutrition, and fitness and how I wish this subject was taught better in schools to educate young minds about being more aware of the benefits rather than it being forced and seen as a chore.

EPISODE 9: EXPECTATIONS IN THE DESI COMMUNITY
#9
03/25/2024

I came to the recent realization that no matter how hard I try to salvage a complicated relationship with family members, no matter how much I try to be the perfect daughter and seek validation, the list of expectations will forever be unreachable.

Rather than trying to fit into a box and feel bad for MY choices, I made the decision to limit access to the beautiful parts of my life (friends, relationship, dreams, goals aspirations ect.) for those family members who simply refuse to love me for me.

This week’s episode was...

EPISODE 8: HOT AND COLD PARENTS
#8
03/11/2024

One minute you’re being told off, the next your being served fruit. Being served fruit by your Indian parents is their equivalent of them apologising, of course without taking any accountability.

On today’s episode I talk about hot and cold parents. No matter how much time passes their old negative habits/ opinions creep up here and there leaving you feeling confused and disappointed. Since I feel like not enough people speak about this topic, it’s important to remember our parents are people, and people say awful things. It just hurts more when it’s a paren...

EPISODE 7: LEAVING MY TOXIC DESI HOUSE - THE AFTERMATH
#7
02/26/2024

EPISODE 6: MARRIAGE WITHIN THE DESI COMMUNITY
#6
02/12/2024

“When will you marry”, asked my mum who would faint at the thought of me dating BUT, “I must find a life partner” she said.

Welcome to the all too familiar and common reality of south Asians like myself who feel the sudden pressure to get married because apparently 25 is the prime age, otherwise I’ll expire by 29, God forbid 30.

In today’s episode I talk about the stigma and ideas our community has around marriage such as the pressure; the need for families to be heavily involved, the lack of open conversations around dating...

EPISODE 5:BROWN BODIES, SELF LOVE AND INSECURITY
#5
01/31/2024

TW: PLEASE NOTE THIS EPISODE INCLUDES SENSITIVE TOPICS.

If there’s one thing I’ve always screamed at all my friends is don’t care what people think, they don’t care as much as you think. Now this is a lot easier said than done and insecurity naturally creeps up in waves. What’s important is how you manage it.

In todays episode I talk about some the of issues I grew up with as a brown women such as:

My relationship with body hair.

Being under/over weight...

EPISODE 4 - MENTAL HEALTH AND ME
#4
01/15/2024

Mental health is a lifelong relationship, it only gets more spicier if you have chat shit aunties and you’re the eldest brown girl. In this week’s episode I talk about how my current circumstances are making me feel, how I wish there were more spaces for the older gen to process their feelings, and how important it is to fall in love with your own company. Solo dates for the win

EPISODE 3: GUILT – BROWN EDITION
#3
01/01/2024

Since my mum is my biggest hater towards my podcast, and I’ll post it anyway, todays episode is quite special to me, and I hope you can understand or relate to some of the guilt I feel as a result of leaving home; being outspoken and putting myself first as a brown person.

Having to put your own needs second and staying compliant to your parents/ societies expectations is not a fair way to live, and the guilt which follows can be awfully painful.

Tell a friend to tell a friend, ENJOY!
