I had the chance to sail in the uber-competitive SDYC J/22  Beercan Series last night and man, was that fun, and humbling! 

20 teams sailed in two flights - silver and gold - we were in silver of course, but had a couple nice finishes and a couple I'd rather not talk about, but I will. Listen!

 Today Scot Tempesta talks to Alex Camet live from onboard the Swan 60 Good Call as they make their way down the coast of Southern California on the Newport to Ensenada Race. Super cool to have a chat from the water.

And if you know Tempesta, you know that he rarely delivers, and his first race on said Hobie 33 was this past Saturday. We'll let him try to talk his way out of fth in class and 19th overall.

Today, Tempesta goes on and on about his GD Hobie 33.   He tells us that y'all love this sort of thing? 

It looks pretty good until you realize Danny Devito couldn't stand up inside. What the hell is he thinking? Oh that's right, that's not his strong suit.

He also briefly dives into the well-worn US SailGP team with lukewarm and predictable results. But wait, there's more...

In today's episode, Tempesta brings you all up to speed on the progress on his "Beater" Hobie 33. First, he goes way too long explaining the obscure and odd name he chose for the boat.

Then he goes on about the yard experience, and all the deets about what it takes to get this thing going. Here at SA, we say hurry the hell up and get on the race course, so that we can hear all about the races he didn't win. (He is likely busting out the excuse machine in anticipation...)

I'm a loser. 

I have been looking for a very specific boat and model to purchase. And I found it! We struck a deal, I was excitedly going through the fun of naming it, and what graphics/paint colors to use, and picking the race schedule, and getting crew together and, and, and...

The deal got killed. The owners decided not to sell - boo! So I found a couple others. Join me in my misery...

No, I didn't quit Sailing Anarchy, nor quit doing podcasts, I quit racing sailboats! I'm done, finished, burnt out, tired, old - you name it. In my own little way, I've been there and done that and that's quite enough!

I'll still be commenting, and complaining, and critiquing, but ya won't see me on the race course unless it's on a powerboat!
