The Day Of The Thing Podcast

I visited my parents, brothers and their families in Anaheim last week. While there, I over ate and suffered the consequences. 

This is the final episode of season 1.  I talk about why I'm doing this podcast and share some stats from Season 1 episodes.  

This is the last part of the "India 1983 Stories" series.  I describe our time in Pakistan and our return to Davis. 

I was ready to head back home, but we still had to visit New Delhi, Agra (where the Taj Mahal is) and Pakistan.  In this episode, I describe by experiences in New Delhi and Agra. 

While in Hyderabad, I started singing a song to myself.  In that moment, I realized who I was. 

My maternal grandmother was a big part of our visit to Hyderabad. She had a special object she kept nearby almost all the time. 

We settled into Hyderabad.  Good food, tailored clothes and stomach problems.  

I'm starting a new series within the Davis series.  It's about my trip to India in the context of being confused about my identity.  Was I Indian or American?  In this episode, I talk about my first impressions of India.

I talk about my best friend while growing up.  He accidentally introduced me to bacon and American culture. 

Today's episode is special for a couple reasons:

1) This is episode #30 alhamdolillah!
2) My daughter helped me write the content!!!

This episode is about my imaginary pet.

My tried to teach Islam to me and my brothers since we were very young.  He got mixed results. 

When I was in second grade, I was in our school Christmas play.  I found out that my role in it was different than I originally thought.  

(Note: after recording this episode, I noticed that I said one of the lines wrong.  It's "twelve drummers drumming".)

When I was in first grade, something really sad happened.

I have a feeling everyone had weird experiences in kindergarten.  Here are mine. 

When I was in kindergarten, I had an incident involving tomato salan. 

I started kindergarten at Pioneer Elementary School.  I had to walk there and back, but there were a couple issues. 

I took a trip to Davis earlier today and met with some old friends.  We talked about our fond memories of growing up in Davis.  I also ate some food.

The main memory I have of my pre-school era in Davis involves muppets. 

Kicking off a new series about my experiences in Davis, CA.  This is the introduction episode to the series.  

I was eating a delicious meal, but suddenly tasted something disgusting.

There was no rain in today's weather forecast for Fremont, but we got some rain anyway.

I didn't know how intense today would be.  I got an urgent phone call while I was busy with work.  At the end of the day, my daughter wanted ice cream.

This is something different. I read a fictional story I wrote called "The Jinn in The Birdhouse".  There's some violence, so it may not be suitable for children. 

My dad tells how he became an illegal immigrant in the USA and what he did about it.

My father describes the death of his father. 

My dad talks about a book that his father gifted to him and that he has until now.

After the Blythe, CA series of episodes, multiple people suggested that I do a series about life in Davis, CA.

There is a specific time each week that I really love. I got to experience it today.  It's about 15 minutes long.

This is my son's first time driving after a car crash he was in a few weeks ago. 

I work from home.  On my lunch break, I noticed that my wife was in a huge rush trying to cook something. 

I was having trouble breathing while sleeping at night.  I got a bipap machine to help me with that. 

I just started a new diet and was craving a Taco Bell Bean Burrito.  I wanted to get one on my cheat day so I went to the Taco Bell near my house.  The music was way too loud for me.
