Blue Yeti Test - Full Processing

Testing a processing chain using various tools. Recorded with the Blue Yeti.

Chain:

- Recorded with Hindenburg Pro.
- Leveled with Levelator.
- Noise and reverb reduction with Hush.
- Processed with Izotope RX7 Elements and then de-click in RX7 Elements.
- Final edits and rendering in Hindenburg Pro including two de-essers and generic EQ with coompressor.

Test - SE Dynacaster DCM8 With and Without the Inline Preamp - Reading "As a Man Thinketh"

In this test episode I've recorded a passage from "As a Man Thinketh" to compare the audio sound from the SE Dynacaster DCM8. One section was recorded with the Dynamite inline preamp activited and one section was recorded with the inline preamp off, using only the audio gain available from the Vocaster One interface.

Recoded with an SE Dynacaster DCM8 microphone into Audacity. Reverb reduction was applied with Hush. Leveled with Levelator. Rendered to 18 LUFs with Hindenburg Pro.


Test of the Sudotack 800 Condenser Microphone
12/15/2023

In this episode I test the Sudotack 800 condenser microphone. This is a USB microphone with a USB type B (printer type) connection. Note: new Sudotack mics may have a different connection. The mic records in 24bit/192khz with a frequency range of 30 hz to 16 khz.

This mic typically is sold in a bundle (boom arm, pop filter, etc.) and ranges from about $40 to $60 U.S. on Amazon.

The audio in this test was processed with EQ / compression (Hindenburg Pro generic voice profiler), Levelator, Hush noise / reverb reduction and two De-essers.

Test of SM58, DynaCaster DCM8, and Hush De-Reverb Application

This is a test podcast where we test microphones, DAWs, plugins, and other tools, recording environments, and related items.

In this episode we compare the SE DynaCaster DCM8 with the Shure SM58, with both microphones having basic EQ, compression, de-essing, and noise and reverb reduction using the Hush application. Hush is a Mac only stand-a-lone application (not a plug-in) designed to reduce reverb and noise. Both microphones were recorded and processed with the Hindenburg Pro application.

Comparing 2 Mics Raw - SE DynaCaster DCM8 and the Electrovoice RE320

This episode is a comparision between the raw, zero processing, audio sound of the SE DynaCaster DCM8 and the Electrovoice RE320. There is no processing of any kind on the audio file. The audio was recorded with Hindenburg Pro, which does automatically level the file.

Comparing Cleanfeed With Twisted Wave Using the Blue Yeti

This is a test recording comparing two recording applications: Cleanfeed and Twisted Wave.

Find Cleanfeed at https://www.Cleanfeed.net. There's a free and paid version. The free version is all that's needed for 99% of podcasters. It can be used to record one person or multiple people through an Internet connection. It provides excellent quality .WAV files you can then process in your DAW of choice.

Pro AR C 414 Mic Compared to Neat King Bee Mic

Note: This is a test podcast where I test microphones, DAWs, plugins, and processing techniques. The real podcasts are all available at https://StressReliefRadio.com.

In this episode I compare two condenser microphones: the first segment was recorded with the ProAR C 414 and the second segment was recorded with the Neat King Bee.

There's no EQ or compression. I used the stock Hindenburg Pro noise reduction filter, the Goyo plugin to lower ambient noise and reverb and also ran one de-esser plugin. Other than those three filters, there's no other processing on the audio file.

Test - Neat King Bee and Hush Noise and Reverb Removal Application

In this test episode, we record with the Neat King Bee condenser microphone in an untreated room. The audio was recorded with Hindenburg Pro 2 with the generic profile, slight EQ to remove certain frequency ranges, and two de-esser plugins. The file was then run through the Hush application for noise and reverb removal.

Test recording. Original recording done with Twisted Wave and subsequently rendered using Audacity. Version 2 was processed at 50% using Hush noise removing software. Version 3 processed at 100%. Version 4 had EQ, compression, and normalization to -3 db added. Microphone: RE320.

In this test audio episode you hear the EV RE320 microphone raw (no processing) then you hear the same mic processed with EQ, Compression, Normalized, and De-Esser. Next, you hear the Zoom ZDM-1 raw then processed using the same processing as used with the RE320.

Test of the Neat King Bee Microphone - Original

This is an experimental podcast for testing recording equipment, DAWs (digital audio workstations), microphones, plugins, etc.

In this episode, we test the original Neat King Bee microphone in a test treated room.
Section 1 has no processing on the file at all and section 2 has Generic Voice Profiler (EQ and Compression) built into Hindenburg Pro DAW. Light noise reduction and De-esser also added.

Testing Cleanfeed Online Remote Recording Studio

This episode is a test of the Cleanfeed online recording studio. It's similar to Zoom or Skype, but it's audio only. Cleanfeed provides high quuality Wave files rather than the low quality audio files you get with Zoom, Skype, and similar applications.

There is a free and paid version of Cleanfeed, but the free version will be fine for 99% of podcasters or radio stations. This application is used widely by radio stations and many podcasters.

Discover The OCENAUDIO DAW - Audacity Alternative

OCENAUDIO is a simple easy to use DAW that works with Windows and Mac. It's more streamlined than Audacity and more intuitive to use. It has basic audio processing tools, but not as many as is available in Audacity. On the other hand, if you want a DAW for podcast or voice recording, this tool is worth testing out. It's free, although you can donate if you choose to do so.

This DAW intigrates with Reaper for larger projects.
