Jesus Faces Annas and Caiaphas

John 18:12-14

It was the high priest that offered the blood upon the mercy seat for the forgiveness of sin once a year. That day was called the day of atonement.

It’s no coincidence that the lamb of God that taketh away the sins of the world went to the high priest. The Old Testament was a shadow of things to come, that is, Christ, a better in new living way.

Betrayal and Arrest of Jesus

The cup that Jesus talked about was the cup of the New Testament, in the book of Luke Jesus said “This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.” What can wash away my sin nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Sanctified through the Truth

John 17:13-26

To be sanctified is to be set apart for God for his glory, for his pleasure, for his testimony that the lost and dying world may believe that he sent his only begotten Son to be the Savior of the world.

A fervent Prayer

John 17:5-12

Jesus was fervently praying for his disciples. He knew that the religious world hated him, and they also would hate his disciples. He prayed fervently that his disciples would have the same oneness with God as he did. He fervently prayed that he would not lose any of his disciples to the world. His prayers were answered. We have a copy of the works of the apostles. Glory to his name. Thank you, Jesus, for praying for us.

The High Priestly Prayer

John 17:1-6

Every work that Jesus did and every word that he said glorified his Father, but the greatest work was him going to the cross to die for the sins of the whole world that people may know the Father and glorify him and to lift up Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

I Have Overcome the World

John 16:25-33

There are a lot of people today that are trying to overcome things in their lives. Some are trying to overcome addictions, some are trying to overcome weight loss, and some are trying to overcome excessive spending. Jesus overcame the world, so you and I would have the power to be overcomers. There’s nothing that a Christian cannot overcome if they put their confidence in Jesus.

Your Sorrow Will Turn into Joy

John 16:16-24

The sorrow and the suffering of the cross, but the rejoicing at the resurrection. Peter had sorrow because he denied the Lord, but after he wept bitterly and repented, his sorrow was turned into joy. Judas had sorrow, but no repentance; only regret.

The Work of the Holy Spirit

John 16:4-15

Jesus just got done telling his disciples that the religious world hates the disciples and persecutes them because they are the disciples of Christ, but Jesus gives a message of comfort by sending the Holy Spirit that will guide them into all truth. Jesus said the truth will make you free, and you’ll be free indeed.

The Hatred of the World

John 15:18-27

The religious leaders of Jesus Day hated him. You can see the hatred they had for him by nailing him to the cross, but you can see the love that Jesus had for us by going to the cross.

I Am the True Vine

John 15:1-17

Israel was also known as God‘s vine, but they were not true to God. The only way that we can bear fruit is to abide in the vine. Jesus puts loving one another at the top of the list. This is how people know that we are Christ disciples if we love one another.

Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit

The promise of the Holy Spirit was fulfilled in Acts chapter 2 and is continually being fulfilled even today: the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and the life of the believer.

I’m so thankful that there’s only one way to heaven. There’s only one person to trust. God made it so simple that even a child could believe and be saved. The world does not have a problem with the simplicity of salvation, but with the purity that salvation brings to one’s life.

One of You Will Betray Me

John 13:21-30

Here we have the betrayal of Judas. He sells the Savior for 33 pieces of silver. It’s hard to fathom that he would do such a thing, but when Satan has control of your life, then unimaginable things will be committed.

Jesus Washes the Disciples' Feet

One of the last things that Jesus did for his disciples was to wash their feet. Peter didn’t understand what the Lord was doing, but after the resurrection. He clearly understood that Christ was teaching humility and servitude.

The Triumphal Entry

John 12:12-19

This was a glorious day, people lifting up Jesus as the king of kings and the Lord of Lords, but how much glorious when Jesus comes back riding on a white horse and the clouds of glory with a sharp sword in his hand to defeat the devil and his angels and all the wicked and to set up his kingdom forever and ever.

The Plot to Kill Lazarus

John 12:9-11

This seems to be a common theme for the unbelieving Jewish leaders to kill the prophets. Remember, they killed John the Baptist, they stoned Stephen. Eventually, all the disciples of the Lord were killed, even Paul the apostle. Why? Because they were pointing people to Jesus. Jesus was right when he said, “Your father is the devil, and he is a murderer.”

Mary Anoints Jesus at Bethany

Martha was serving the Lord. Lazarus was sitting with the Lord, and Mary was sacrificing to the Lord. What a beautiful lesson for all of us to learn: at times we sit with the Lord, at times we serve the Lord, and at other times we sacrifice to the Lord.

The Plot to Kill Jesus

This statement was said of religious leaders that they knew nothing at all. They know a lot about religion. They know a lot about their laws and their rules, but they do not know Christ, how sad to know nothing of the power of Christ, the forgiveness of Christ, the blessings of Christ. In our society today, we have a lot of substitutes we substitute a relationship with God for religion we substitute good works for God’s Grace we substitute morality for repentance we substitute success for surrender self helps for the Holy Spirit

The Pharisees were persistently in the absence of sight. How they said to give God the glory for this miracle but yet called the one that did the miracle a sinner. Resisting Reality

“Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath day”

The Pharisees were resisting the reality that this man was born blind. They also were resisting the reality that Jesus Christ was the son of God.

They perverted the Sabbath day when they rejected the mercies of God done on this day. How many people take something that is right and weaponize it because of their own greed, power, and authority?
