A 25-year-old Venezuelan man stands accused of fatally shooting Sheridan Gorman, a Loyola University freshman. The 18-year-old was walking with friends near campus, reportedly hoping to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights.  Near the pier at Tobey Prinz Beach, a man wearing a mask and dressed in all black clothing, ambushed the group. As they ran, Jose Medina, 25, opened fire. Gorman was shot in the back.

Kenny Kinsey, a forensic investigator who testified for the prosecution in the 2023 Murdaugh murder trial, is now independently investigating death of Stephen Smith.

He says he believes key opportunities were missed early in the 2015 case. Discovery of Stephen's body reported to 911. He suffered a 7½-inch skull fracture.

Smith's death was initially investigated as a hit-and-run but investigators say the evidence did not support that as a cause of death.

The body of Stephen Smith has now been exhumed, autopsied and reinterred.

Amie Owens, 46,  has been missing for nearly a year, and her children are begging for help in finding her. Family says the last contact with Amie was over text.  Her daughter pleading for information on Amie's location and who she was with.  Owens replied, "I'm staying with Jeff in Kentucky." The family does not know Jeff and have no last name for which to search.

Emily Pike, 14, sneaks away from the group home where she lives. When she does not return, Mesa police are contacted, and she is reported missing.

Her mother is not informed until she has been missing for a week. Police say the group home is responsible for notifying her case manager, who would then contact Pike’s family or tribe. Authorities post her picture on social media, print flyers, and alert the media, stating that Emily Pike is missing and may have run away.

State authorities are searching a ranch once owned by Jeffrey Epstein, searching for the bodies of two young girls.  Allegations have been made that Epstein may have used Zorro ranch to sexual abuse and sex traffick young women. Ten individuls, women and young girls, have come forward saying they were groomed at the ranch and despite those allegations, the property was never searched while Epstein was alive.

More images from Nancy Guthrie's home cameras have been recovered by the FBI as the search for the 84-year-old grandmother continues. Those images are thumbnail images from the motion-activated cameras, pointed at the backyard, side yard and swimming pool.  Disappointing though is that the cameras did not capture footage from the night of the abduction record. Nor did it record anything suspicious, reportedly.

Law enforcement has tracked down thousands of leads, as the increase in the reward was announced. Several people have been detained, but none lead to actionable information about Nancy Guthrie.

Pop icon Britney Spears arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. The 44-year-old pop star was the only person in the car. The incident happened near her Southern California home around 3am. Spears was booked and released.   

Around 9 pm, a 911 call alerted the California Highway Patrol that someone in a black BMW 430i was driving erratically. Pima County Sheriff’s Department and FBI investigators returned to Nancy Guthrie's neighborhood asking some of those living around her whether they noticed any internet connection disruptions the night Guthrie disappeared.   Authorities have not said why they were asking, but many suspect an attempt to show possible use of a jammer.  

One home was of particular interest, the closest to Guthrie's property.  The couple's home has four Ring cameras, and one camera did experience glitches.
