The Diamond Heels ventured south for a series in Clemson this past weekend in hopes from breaking a dubious streak in Doug Kingsmore Stadium. Carolina had lost six straight and eight of the past nine games down there and after Friday's poor showing, that streak extended once again.

Davis coached the Tar Heels for five seasons, making the national championship in his first season but struggling with consistency throughout his time on the UNC bench. For the North Carolina basketball program,  reaching the Sweet Sixteen was the benchmark of success in the NCAA Tournament since Dean Smith broke through in the late 1960s. Smith's 1967-69 run of ACC regular season championships, ACC Tournament titles and Final Four berths set the standard for UNC and throughout his tenure on the Tar Heel sidelines, Smith delivered.
