The Gleision Mine Disaster: Episode 448

There have been many miners killed across the UK, in a series of terrible accidents in an industry that has always been known as dangerous. But when we think of coal mining disasters they tend to be in the 18th and 19th centuries, including the worst mining disaster in UK history which killed 439 men and boys working in Senghenydd, Glamorgan in 1913 as a result of a gas explosion.
The story today is from the 21st century, but is again from South Wales and once again, it destroyed many lives.

Murderous Secrets Of The Moors : Episode 447

It was a couple walking their dog who found the human remains in a beautiful part of Dartmoor. This grisly find led to a tricky investigation for police to find out who the person was and just what had happened to them. The answer to this investigation lay not in forensics or other technology, but good old-fashioned police work.

A Mild-Mannered Man: Episode 421

Last week, we heard about Roderick McLean who was sent to prison when police and customs officers captured a gang of eight drug smugglers off the Caithness coast. During the raid customs officer Alastair Souter was killed when he fell and was crushed between a customs cutter and the gang's boat. The drugs haul netted three tons of cannabis, valued at ÂŁ10 million. McLean, the gang leader, was convicted and sentenced to 28 years in prison.
