The visiting outfit were shutout in the first half, and scored their only try through Chanel Harris-Tavita as a consolation in the 74th minute.

I'm not interested in a pile-on on Netball New Zealand. We are where we are and there's no real need to re-litigate how that happened.

As this was playing out over the last 12 months, we questioned those in positions of power, and many of those people are no longer in those positions.

Since Dave Rennie took over the All Blacks coaching role, the team's been going smoothly, beating out France, Italy and Ireland at the Nations Championship.

Next week, Rennie will name a 44-man squad for the first full All Blacks tour of South Africa since 1996.

New Zealand's SailGP team claimed their first-ever regatta win in the global foiling league’s stop in England in 2022 - and they're hoping to repeat that moment.

SailGP returned to Great Britain this week, in Portsmouth rather than Plymouth this time, with the sailing getting underway this weekend.

Cricket Australia CEO Todd Greenberg has indicated that CA is open to playing an Ashes Test match against England in India.

The proposal would require backing from both the ECB and the BCCI to expand the reach of test cricket in the subcontinent.

Long-time netball administrator Sheryl Dawson believes the commercial value of the sport has been undersold in New Zealand.

It comes as the ANZ Premiership fights for survival with Netball New Zealand chair Alastair Carruthers believing the competition must be re-designed to stop haemorrhaging money.

Dawson, who has been the CEO of the Magic previously as well as president of the sport's international federation, says they have to capture the excitement of the sport and sell it to fans and corporates.

Monday morning (NZT) marks the FIFA World Cup final between Spain and Argentina following Sunday morning's clash between France and England, solidifying England as third place.

The All Blacks delivered a win against Ireland at Eden Park on Saturday night, with a score of 40-21.

The All Whites will have rare football internationals against India late this year, with matches scheduled for Auckland and Christchurch.

The matches will be at Auckland's Mt Smart Stadium on Thursday, 12 November, and at Christchurch's Te Kaha Stadium on Sunday, 15 November.

The games were announced by Sport Minister Mark Mitchell as part of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to New Zealand.

New Zealand’s men’s American Football team, the Iron Blacks, is facing one of the biggest fixtures in their history. 

They’re one of three teams facing Australia in the Festival of Football this weekend, and will be looking to overturn last year’s agonising 20-16 defeat on the Gold Coast. 

Head Coach Harry Siono told Piney the result’s been a huge motivation for those who played last year, as well as the coaches and staff who were around at the time.

The Warriors have continued their strong season with a 32-6 win over the Wests Tigers.

Erin Rush has made history. 

Back in May, she was the first woman to elected as President at New Zealand Rugby – the first in the organisation’s 134-year history.  

She’s long been involved in the sport – a former Black Fern, commentator, and a volunteer at the grassroots level, as well as NZR’s first female vice-president. 

Rush told Piney having the role is a huge privilege, and they’re not ones she knew existed before she was asked to stand for vice-president a few years ago.

World Cup-winning All Black Conrad Smith has returned to New Zealand Rugby (NZR) in a role with the high-performance team. 

Smith, a veteran of the legendary 2011 and 2015 Rugby World Cup campaigns, has been appointed as head of men’s high performance. 

He told Piney it’s a great opportunity and something he thinks will challenge him. 

Looking back at the rugby talents of the past, Smith believes New Zealand was producing so many great players because of the great environment that surrounded the sport.

With the conclusion of the Super Rugby season comes the end of Rob Penney’s tenure with the Crusaders. 

His three years coaching the team were something of a rollercoaster – with a horror first season at the helm followed by a title win, and this year making it only to the semi-finals. 

Penney told Piney that for him, the greatest privilege is being a local lad and getting the opportunity to be involved with a great organisation.
