Kiwi paracanoeist Finn Murphy is rising faster than even he expected.
Just 12 months after making his international debut, he competed in the Canoe Sprint and Paracanoe World Cup in Germany, finishing second in a dead heat in the men’s KL3 200m final.
His time of 44.91s saw him share silver with Brazil’s Miqueias Elias Rodrigues, while two-time Paralympic champion Serhii Yemelianov claimed gold in 44.14s.

The Chiefs have secured their spot in the Grand Final.
They demolished the defending champion Crusaders 42-12 to advance to the final stage of Super Rugby Pacific.
Kyren Taumoefolau started the Chiefs off strong with two early tries, and told Piney everyone was on the same page – every time they had an opportunity to attack, they did.
And in the second half, he says, they couldn’t get complacent, as they knew the Crusaders were going to come out firing.

Dylan Cleaver: Cricket scribe on Kane Williamson's career, retirement
Kane Williamson’s impact on New Zealand cricket is being highlighted.
The Black Cap announced his retirement from the international game overnight, stepping back ahead of the second match against England.
Someone who may have watched Williamson more than anyone else is cricket author Dylan Cleaver, who told Piney that the cricketer definitely sits at either first or second in terms of the country’s all-time greats.
“He’s a genius, and what he’s done at the crease over 16 years for New Zealand is unprecedented.”

Kane Williamson has padded up for the last time.
He announced his retirement from international cricket ahead of the second test against England at Lords, bringing his highly successful over 15 year career to a close.
One of Williamson’s earliest teammates was BJ Watling, who played in the same game in which Williamson debuted for the Northern Districts.
Watling told Piney his skill was apparent pretty early on and it wasn’t long until he was straight into the runs.

Imogen Ayris has made another career breakthrough, clearing 4.81m in the women’s pole vault at the Paavo Nurmi Games.

The Hurricanes have breezed into the Super Rugby semi finals after rolling the Brumbies 66-12 in Wellington.
Ngane Punivai grabbed a hat-trick off the bench as the Hurricanes scored nine converted tries with Ruben Love finishing 100 percent off the kicking tee.
He told Piney he was pretty lucky the boys did all the hard work in the first half so they had a lead by the time he entered the pitch.

The schedule for the Summer of Cricket has been announced – a highlight being the India tests on New Zealand’s shores in late 2026.
