Whiskey to Whisky
Part 2 - The bourbon flavor wheel and Michter's sb 10y bourbon and Old Forester 1924 10y bourbon

We discuss the bourbon flavor wheel published by The Council of Whiskey Masters. Then hold on tight, we close out part 2 with some top notch bourbons!
Part 1 - Old Fitzgerald 7y and 9y

We're off the peated series for now and we taste 4 excellent bourbons in one episode so were breaking it up into two parts.
Highland Park Cask Strength No. 4 single malt scotch and Laphroaig 10 Cask Strength batch 12

These are two big hitters when it comes to peated scotch. They are both reasonably priced for what they deliver. We highly recommended both of these single malts.
Bunnahabhain 12y Single Malt Scotch Whisky and Bowmore Vault Edition Atlantic Sea Salt first release

We continue this peat series with another two W2W recommended single malts form Islay.
Bruichladdich Port Charlotte 2013 Islay Barley Single Malt Scotch and Octomore 14.1

We go right to the top of the peat bombs list with this episode. As far as we know, Octomore is the heaviest peated single malt scotch available. Does it live up to the price tag and hype?
Ledaig by Tobermory 18 y and 19 y single malt scotch whisky distilled in 1996

We kick off this peated series and set the bar pretty high with these two Ledaigs from Tobermory. We also discuss the peat part of the whiskey wheel.
Wild Turkey Jimmy Russell's 70th 8y bourbon and Wild Turkey Masters Keep Unforgotten

We try some hard-to-get Wild Turkey bourbons in this episode, and they do not disappoint.
Whiskey of the Year 2024 episode as we sip Woodinville 8y Bourbon

We're back! Joelle and I list the whiskeys that stood out to us last year. We also do a mini review of a great limited-edition bourbon, Woodinville.
Bulleit Rye 12y and Little Book Ch. 8

Took a little break and we're back. This is a Rye highlight. I learned something about Rye in this one. These were two great whiskeys!
Wild Turkey 13y Japan edition and W.B. Saffell Bourbon blend

We try two rare whiskeys that we chanced upon. The Wild Turkey 13 is meant for the Japan market and the W.B. Saffell is allocated.
Copper & Kings Bourbon blend and Maker's Mark the Heart release 2024 vol. 1

We get into two flavor bombs here. We also go a little long and the recording cut right before we were finished.
New Riff 8y 100 proof Bourbon and Penelope 9y Barrel strength Private Select Bourbon

We have two solid bourbons here. MGP does it again.
Ben Holladay bottled-in-bond 6y Bourbon and 6y Rickhouse Proof version and an allocation and Buffalo Trace Rant

We're back with another special episode focusing on Ben Holladay Bourbons. Also, we haven't talked about whiskey in a while so of course the conversation vents off a little whiskey steam.
Chattanooga Founders Anniversary Blend and Barrel Foundation Blend

We have a special cork-pop episode of two, special release, blended bourbons. They were great!
Nikka Days Blended Whisky and Cat's Eye Distillery Polish Rye Whiskey and a conversation with Gene Nassif

We have an insightful conversation with the owner of Cat's Eye Distillery. As whiskey heroes go Gene Nassif is on our list. We also talk about Whiskey label rules in Japan.
Green River High Rye Bourbon and Tobermory 9y Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch

As usual, Joelle brings out a hidden gem of a low-end bourbon. Also, we get into a solid, high proof, independently bottled Tobermory single malt scotch. Both of these we highly recommend looking out for.
Defiant American Single Malt and Starlight Single Barrel Bourbon with Cognac Finish

The American Single Malt frontier gets explored a little further with Defiant. Also, Joelle drops a bomb of a single barrel bourbon for his high end!
Benchmark Top Floor Bourbon and Dewar's 21 year Blended Scotch Double Double Aged

Another high and low end whiskey. Joelle finds a steal of a budget bourbon. Let's go.
M&H Classic Single Malt and Nulu SB Toasted Honey Barrel Finish

Ever wonder about M&H Single Malt Whiskey out of Isreal? We check it out and a unique honey barrel finished bourbon from Nulu.
Chattanooga Whiskey Cask Straight Bourbon and Springbank Cambeltown Loch Blended Scotch

Were back to the mainstream Whiskeys and find a surprise with Chatanooga bourbon. Also, we continue our open letter to Cambeltown.
Bushmills 10 Sherry finish Single Malt and Still Austin Cask Strength Bourbon

It is always surprising when you come across a whiskey that pushes out the boundaries of what Whiskey can be. We wrap up this odds and ends series with a real banger of a bourbon.
Legent Bourbon and Ardmore 8y Single Malt Scotch

Only a few more left of our odds and ends series. These two Whiskeys are out of the ordinary, but they work for us.
Bardstown Origin Series

We try all three from this series, the high Rye straight Bourbon, the Rye and the Wheated Bottled-In-Bond Bourbon.
Auld Blow-In 14y and Longmorn 16y and DIY stave aged White Dog from Buffalo Trace

More odds and end whiskys to taste and talk about.
Whiskey of the year 2023

It's been a big year in Whiskey...
Pokeno Single Malt and Ardbeg Fermutation 13 year

Pokeno from New Zealand and Ardbeg's Fermutation from Islay round out this weeks odds and ends.
J. Henry Four Grain Rye and J. Henry Anniversary Blend (2022)

J. Henry is one of Wisconsin's treasures! Here are two, hard to find, whiskeys that we loved.
Willett 9y SB (Purple Top) barrel #5879 and Mr. Peat single malt

We continue with our odds and ends series with a rare bourbon and an unheard of malt.
2XO ICON SERIES: Phoenix Blend, Innkeeper’s Blend, Tribute Blend and Gem of Kentucky barrel #69

As master blending, old school rap loving, bourbon tasting machines go, Dixon Dedman is one of the best. Today we highlight some of his latest work.
Killowen Barantuil Irish Whiskey and Driftless Glen Bourbon de Naranja

We continue with our odds and ends series with two great, rare whiskeys.
Great Wagon Road Distilling Co. RUA 16 month 46% Single Malt and RUA 7.5 year 74% Single Malt

We have too many odds and ends that we are going to take a break from high and low for a time to highlight some whiskeys that just can't wait for the sweet spot to develope. To kick it off, these are two store picks from the online liquor store Seelbach's.
It’s Balvenie Time - 12y sb and 15y sb and 21y Port wood

We pit them against each other to compare the differences. We ran out of time again on this episode but we pretty much said all we wanted to say...
Evan Williams single barrel and small batch 1783 and E.H. Taylor batch 11 barrel proof

This Evan Williams SB is one of the best low end whiskeys around. Grab it while it's still in your state. Also, this E.H. Taylor is not too bad either.
A few apologies and a cork pop of High West High Country American single malt

The Scotch Malt Whisky Society and Balcones this ones for you.
Shieldaig classic and single malt and Kings County barrel strength

We try another Total Wine direct scotch and a one of a kind bourbon from NY.
Redwood Empire Lost Monarch and Kentucky Owl Takumi edition

Blended bourbons, let's go!
Balcones Baby Blue and Bardstown Discovery series #4

We are trying to figure out Balcones. We go the distance here at Whiskey to Whisky. From a low end to a really high end Bardstown, one by one we'll get to them all.
Heaven Hill 6y ’Green Label’ and Lagavulin 16y

Sometimes the low end really surprises us. Keep an eye out for this one!
Pearse Lyons Reserve and Stagg Jr. batch 9

Another high and low-end whiskey review. We also discuss some of the proposed rules by the ASMWC the American Single Malt Whiskey Commission.
Coopers Craft 100 proof and Ichiros Malt & Grain Whisky

We go off on a few tangents on this one. It's always a surprise when you revisit a bottle of whisky that you got into and then put away for a year. Another classic high and low episode.
