Henrico Planning Commission endorses Sandston data center proposal despite citizen concerns

The Henrico Planning Commission last week endorsed plans for a proposed 622-acre data center complex in Sandston, despite uniformly negative feedback during a public hearing from nearly 20 speakers about the project’s potential environmental impact and the possible loss of a portion of a Civil War battlefield on the site. TSA officials stop Moseley man from bringing loaded gun onto RIC flight

Transportation Security Administration officers at Richmond International Airport prevented a Moseley, Va., man from bringing a handgun onto a flight April 13. The .380 caliber firearm was not loaded. It was the ninth weapon stopped at a checkpoint at the airport so far this year, following 17 such occurrences all of last year. The gun was confiscated by police, who cited the man on a weapons charge. “Firearms are not permitted to be carried through security checkpoints and onto planes. Va. Department of Rail and Public Transportation seeks input on six-year plan

The Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation is soliciting public feedback about proposed transportation projects across Virginia, which it will use to help develop a plan to improve transportation options for Virginians. Youngkin amendment would delay date to ban single-use plastics

One of the 200-plus amendments Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin proposed for the state budget would delay a ban on single use plastics beyond a timeframe set as part of a compromise the legislature made a few years ago. Amendment 148 “shifts the effective date of the prohibition on use of polystyrene containers from 2025 to 2028” for retail food establishments with 20 or more locations around the state, and from “2026 to 2030 for smaller restaurants.” A Youngkin spokesman did not immediately return a request for comment on the amendment.
